Fallout 4 Free Next-Gen Update for Xbox Series, PS5, and PC Announced, Coming in 2023

Fallout 76 Servers Down

Bethesda has announced the Fallout 4 free next-gen update for the Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC sometime in 2023, and includes a number of new and improved features for the next-gen consoles.

Fallout 4 Free Next-Gen Update Details:

Included in the free update is:

  • Performance Mode (high FPS)
  • Quality Mode (up to 4K resolution)
  • Bug fixes
  • Bonus Creation Club content

A new blog post published by Bethesda introduced the update saying “Fallout 4 is going next-gen” and reads:

“A next-gen update is coming to Fallout 4! Coming in 2023, this free update will be available for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC systems, including performance mode features for high frame rates, quality features for 4K resolution gameplay, bug fixes and even bonus Creation Club content!”

Currently, you can only play Fallout 4 on 60fps using Xbox Series consoles’ FPS Boost feature, but other than that there has been no next-gen upgrade for the title on consoles. For PC players however, this is not as big of an update but they can certainly benefit from the bug fixes and the added content.

Other than that, Bethesda announced that the Spooky Scorched will return to Fallout 76. Fallout 76 will also be getting a new Fallout 25th anniversary challenge and bundle for players. You can find out more about it and peep the never-seen-before Fallout 76 art on Bethesda’s official blog.
