In a celebratory announcement over on Twitter, Square Enix confirms that Final Fantasy XV sales have now breached over the 10 million mark worldwide, making it the second best-selling Final Fantasy game to date. Check out the annouuncement over on Twitter below.

According to an online sales projection, Final Fantasy XV is now second only to the original Final Fantasy VII which first released for the PlayStation in 1997. FFVII sold a total of 13 million units; close competitors to FFXV include the Final Fantasy X original game and remasters and the ongoing Final Fantasy XIV MMO, both of which are at the 10 million mark as well.
It will be worth seeing just how the next mainline title in the series, Final Fantasy XVI, will fare in terms of overall sales. The game is said to be in the final stages of development, and you can check out more details here.
