Following PS5 Price Increase, Microsoft Says Xbox Series X|S Price Staying Put

Earlier today, Sony announced that the PS5 will see a price increase in certain markets due to inflation and other factors. For those wondering if Microsoft is following suit with the Xbox Series X|S, we’re glad to report that won’t be the case.

Speaking to Windows Central, a Microsoft rep has confirmed that both the Xbox Series X and S will remain the same price everywhere it’s officially sold.

“We are constantly evaluating our business to offer our fans great gaming options. Our Xbox Series S suggested retail price remains at $299 (£250, €300) the Xbox Series X is $499 (£450, €500).”

Mind, this is no guarantee that we won’t ever see an Xbox price hike, but this guarantees that won’t be happening soon-ish. Given the Xbox Series and the PS5 are (more or less) the same when it comes to performance, this is a good move by Microsoft not to follow suit, as more gamers might consider picking up the Series X|S as their preferred next-gen console of choice if price is an issue. Add in the amazing value that Game Pass brings to the table, and this might sway the console sales war this gen in Microsoft’s favor.
