Ghostwire: Tokyo Xbox Series X|S Version Releases April 12 Alongside New Free Update

ghostwire tokyo update 1.003

A year into release, Tango GameworksGhostwire: Tokyo is finally coming to Xbox Series X|S consoles and the Xbox Game Pass service on April 12, along with a free content update for the game on all platforms that includes a new challenge-based game mode as well as new locations, missions, enemies, and combat abilities.

Following Microsoft’s acqusition of ZeniMax Media (including Bethesda Softworks and Tango Gameworks), the former chose to honor Bethesda’s timed PS5 exclusivity agreement with Sony that kept the game from coming to Xbox consoles for at least one year after release. That exclusivity period expires on March 25 this year, and Microsoft has now announced that the game will be finally coming to both Xbox Series X|S consoles as well as Xbox Game Pass’ PC and console tiers.

Alongside the Xbox release, a new free content update will be simultaneously released for Ghostwire: Tokyo on all platforms. The update includes:

  • The Spider’s Thread game mode (30-stage gauntlet with in-game currency and skill rewards)
  • New locations (including in the local Middle School area), new missions, and extended cutscenes
  • New Visitor enemies, including the invisible Silent Gaze and the elusive Retribution
  • New skills for Akito, including Charge Rush and Counter Attack

More details about the new free update can be found here. If you feel like hopping into Tango Gameworks’ karate-meets-magic action game now, check out our review of Ghostwire: Tokyo, where we found the game “hopefully a start to a beautiful franchise.”
