Rare has announced a remastered version of GoldenEye 007 25 years after its release for the Xbox consoles. The studio also announced at the Nintendo Direct presentation that they will be porting the Nintendo 64 version of the game to the Nintendo Switch.

As for the Xbox version that has more bells and whistles added, Rare’s GoldenEye remaster for Xbox includes achievements, 4K resolution, smoother framerates, and local split-screen multiplayer. GoldenEye 007 Remastered will be launching on day one on Xbox Game Pass. A release date has not been shared as of yet.

Rare says:

25 years after its original release, experience GoldenEye 007 faithfully recreated for Xbox consoles. Includes achievements, 4K resolution and a smoother framerate – even in split-screen local multiplayer! Coming soon to Xbox Game Pass.

Other than that, the folks over at Rare mention that they have been working with Nintendo to bring Nintendo 64’s GoldenEye 007 to the Nintendo Switch for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members. You can check out the announcement trailer below:

Note that these seem to be two separate versions of the game, with the Nintendo Switch version basically a port of the N64 game that was released way back in 1997, while the Xbox version has all the added elements we listed above.
