GTA 6 Won’t Use Generative AI; Take-Two Confirms Physical Release as Marketing Begins This Summer
Over the past few months, Grand Theft Auto 6 has been surrounded by rumors, from possible delays and marketing plans to questions about artificial intelligence and the game’s physical release.
Now, Take-Two Interactive has stepped in to clear things up, addressing several of the most discussed topics surrounding one of the most anticipated games ever.
GTA 6 Will Not Use Generative AI

One of the most important clarifications comes from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, who confirmed that GTA 6 will not use generative AI.
Speaking in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Zelnick explained, “Generative AI has zero part in what Rockstar Games is building. Their worlds are handcrafted. That’s what differentiates them. They’re built from the ground up, building by building, street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood. They’re not procedurally generated, they shouldn’t be.”
In addition to clearing up these concerns, Take-Two also shared new information about GTA 6’s marketing plans. During its latest quarterly financial report, the company confirmed that marketing for the game will start in the summer. This means new trailers, gameplay reveals, and official updates are expected closer to release, following Rockstar’s usual approach of promoting its games nearer to launch.
Take-Two also addressed speculation about the game’s physical release. Zelnick dismissed rumors suggesting that retail copies could be delayed to reduce the risk of leaks, stating clearly that this is not the case. Grand Theft Auto VI will launch with a physical edition available from day one, alongside the digital version, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The publisher once again reaffirmed that GTA 6 is scheduled to release on November 19, 2026. These announcements come during a strong financial period for Take-Two, which recently confirmed that GTA 5 has surpassed 225 million copies sold worldwide.
In other news, high-ranking Russian officials and conservative groups have called for GTA 6 to be banned or heavily censored in Russia, saying the game includes content they consider immoral.
GTA 6 is set for release on November 19 on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
