Those still waiting for the arrival of online multiplayer Heists in Grand Theft Auto Online – which is pretty much everyone, or roughly 32.5 million gamers as of last February – are in for some disappointing news.
The long awaited GTA Online update that was supposed to release this Spring has yet again been delayed, according to a post on Rockstar’s Newswire, which the studio says is attributed to unforeseen complications. No new ETA was provided, but here’s what the Rockstar had to say:
“For those of you asking about other upcoming GTA Online updates, we have lots more in store coming your way soon. We know many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Online Heists that we had planned to release for you this spring, and they are taking more time to create than originally anticipated. We are very sorry for the delay, and are working hard to bring them to you as soon as we can.
“Please know that we are focused as always on making the best possible content for you to play and we are thankful to all of you for your patience, understanding and support. Stay tuned for more information on that as well as lots of other ongoing content updates, enhancements and additions to the world of GTA Online that are on the way.”
It’s looking more and more like Rockstar may release Online Heists on or around the launch of Grand Theft Auto 5 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Hopefully that’s not wishful thinking, though.
In related news, the same article does good job outlining all of the new GTA Online content included in the recently released I’m Not A Hipster update. Disappointed in the news? Keep your eyes and ears open for an ETA. Hopefully we’ll get one soon.
