LEGO and Epic Games have announce a collaboration, with ther latest venture aimed at the ever-growing Metaverse. The Fortnite publisher release a post on their plans for the Metaverse, as they partner with LEGO to create “a place for kids to play.” Check out the rundown on the announcement below.

Niels B Christiansen, LEGO Group’s CEO, had this to say on the partnership:

“Kids enjoy playing in digital and physical worlds and move seamlessly between the two. We believe there is huge potential for them to develop life-long skills such as creativity, collaboration and communication through digital experiences. But we have a responsibility to make them safe, inspiring and beneficial for all. Just as we’ve protected children’s rights to safe physical play for generations, we are committed to doing the same for digital play. We look forward to working with Epic Games to shape this exciting and playful future.

As the cornerstone of this new partnership, Epic Games also outlined three principles that they will follow alongside LEGO in their plans for the Metaverse:

  • Protect children’s right to play by making safety and wellbeing a priority.
  • Safeguard children’s privacy by putting their best interests first.
  • Empower children and adults with tools that give them control over their digital experience.

It should not surprise anyone if we also see LEGO coming soon to Fornite, as the ever-popular battle royale has been acting as a Metaverse of sorts for some time now, with collaborations between major franchises and other publishers.

Interested in playing Fortnite without the building? Epic Games also recently announced Zero Build, a special permanent mode for the game that breaks the battle royale down to its very basics: shooting! Check it out for yourself here.
