Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls’ Performance Issues Lead to Mixed Steam Rating
Although the developers promised that all of the issues found during the Open Beta would be fixed before launch, Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls has not had the best start on PC.
The current Steam version is far from the experience players were expecting.
According to user reviews on the game’s official Steam page, the Arc System Works fighting game suffers from framerate drops and stuttering regardless of the hardware being used.
Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls Has a Rough Launch on PC
These issues make the game difficult to enjoy, especially since fighting games depend on a stable framerate and smooth performance more than almost any other genre. One use said, “45 fps for a fighting game is embarrassing. if i can run tekken and streetfighter i should be able to run this.”
Players have also complained that there is still no update regarding compatibility with Steam hardware. At the moment, it is not possible to launch Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls on Steam Deck, Steam Machine, or other devices running SteamOS.
The game is also completely unplayable on Linux because the developers have blocked it from launching through a misconfigured anti-cheat setup and strict login requirements. A community manager on Discord reportedly said, “Asking for Linux support is like asking for a Switch port.”
All of these issues, along with the controversial requirement to sign in with a PlayStation Network (PSN) account, contributed to the game launching with a “Mixed” rating on Steam, dropping as low as a 43% positive rating.
It’s worth noting that the developers have already released a patch to address some of the problems, but it does not appear to have fixed the main issues, meaning more updates will be needed.
For now, the PlayStation 5 version appears to be the most stable way to play the game at launch. Once a patch is released to address these issues, we’ll be sure to let you know here at MP1st.
