As we inch closer to the multiplayer reveal of Battlefield 6, fans’ expectations continue to grow astronomically, as there are still many unanswered questions that many hope will be revealed this Thursday. Understandably, many within the community remain skeptical about the new title, primarily due to the shortcomings of the past few Battlefield games.

However, there’s one thing that the community is holding on to as their glimmer of hope, as this year’s iteration marks the first being headed by none other than Vince Zampella, one of the people who literally created the Call of Duty franchise (along with Jason West at Infinity Ward), and is now not only the head of Respawn Entertainment (Titanfall, Star Wars Jedi), but is also now the head of the Battlefield series.

With his record of titles now being brought up by the community, could this finally be the year where we see Battlefield making its big comeback?

Could A Call of Duty Veteran Turn Battlefield Around?

Battlefield 6’s multiplayer reveal is tomorrow, and everyone is expecting some big things from it. I know we are, as the game has been on our minds every single day since DICE first revealed that they were making a new game months ago. While we’re sure the game won’t live up to everyone’s expectations, we hope Battlefield 6 will mark a new beginning for the franchise, bringing fresh and innovative elements while also returning the series to its roots.

We long for the glory days of Battlefield Bad Company, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 4, as do many others, and we’ve been hopeful that this is something that the Battlefield Studios can pull off.

Still, DICE’s recent track record hasn’t been exactly spotless, with many being reminded of Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield V, and the direction the studio tried to take the franchise in. However, going into this reveal, the past year has seen a major shift at DICE, as they’ve opened up to a more direct line of communication with their fanbase with the introduction of Battlefield Labs. They’ve kept us updated with some of the changes and experiments they’ve been testing. Although not everything seems to be perfect (yet), they’ve at least shown that they are listening, as proven with their recent announcement about the upcoming open beta for Battlefield 6 and class-locked weapons.

Undoubtedly, Battlefield 2042 was the wake-up call that the studio needed, but it was also the wake-up call that EA needed.

We don’t know what to expect out of tomorrow’s reveal, but one thing is certain, and that’s the lead-up to all of this, which you could say started with Battlefield 2042’s lackluster reception. One month after its launch in 2021, it was announced that Respawn Studio’s head, Vince Zampella, was now going to lead the Battlefield franchise. That was nearly four years ago, and we’ll soon see how his leadership has shaped the new Battlefield game,

Again, we aren’t sure what to expect, but given Zampella’s track record (which the community has even noticed), there’s a good reason to be excited for this one.

Now, not everyone will like the list of games we’re about to present, but even so, there’s no denying that they are critically acclaimed. Vince has a lengthy career, and every game he has led has been a massive success in every important metric: sales-wise, review-wise, and most importantly, player reception.

  • Medal of Honor Allied Assault (91 Metacritic)
  • Call of Duty (91 Metacritic)
  • Call of Duty 2 (89 Metacritic)
  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare (94 Metacritic)
  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (94 Metacritic)
  • Titanfall (86 Metacritic)
  • Titanfall 2 (89 Metacritic)
  • Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order (79 Metacritic)

Except for Fallen Order being his lowest-scoring (which is still a good score) title on Metacritic, any project led by Vince has yet to be a miss. So, there’s a good reason why many in the community are pinning their hopes on the guy. Just look at that track record; even putting the scores aside, these are some of the best games, especially for multiplayer shooters. Vince knows his shooters, and we’re all hoping he knows exactly what Battlefield needs to succeed.

Is the community foolish to think one person can save a franchise? What do you think? Sound off and let us know what your thoughts in the comments.

Battlefield 6 has no released date yet, but it’s confirmed to be releasing on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and not for last-gen.
