Neil Druckmann Reveals New Naughty Dog Project Has Been in the Works Since 2020, Sony to Decide When to Announce Game, But Druckmann Given Full Creative Control
It’s been over four years since the release of The Last of Us Part II, and Playstation owners are eager to know what’s next from Naughty Dog Studios. While the studio has released remakes and remasters, many are still waiting for news on a completely original title.
Neil Druckmann recently provided an update during an online panel with BioShock creator Ken Levine, revealing that Naughty Dog’s next big project has been in development since 2020. This likely means the studio began work on the new title right after the launch of The Last of Us Part II, which demanded a monumental creative and production effort.

Druckmann also shared that Sony has given him full creative control over the project, allowing him to steer the game’s direction without interference. However, Sony will have the final say on the marketing, meaning they will decide when and how to announce the game to the public.

In other Naughty Dog news, fans who were hoping for a return to the Uncharted series may be disappointed, as the studio has made it clear that they are “moving on” from the project. The studio also canceled The Last of Us multiplayer game last year, citing that it would require all of its resources.
Additionally, Naughty Dog has previously confirmed that multiple single-player projects are currently in the works. Druckmann made it clear that while The Last of Us has been a monumental success, the studio will not be “The Last of Us studio forever.”
Furthermore, the concept for The Last of Us Part III is already in place, which hints that The Last of Us Part III is all but confirmed, with a clear direction already established for the next chapter in the beloved series.

And you’ll still buy it and play it. The numbers don’t lie, you little alt-right snowflakes have to be buying tons of the game’s you complain about. You’re so sad.
It’ll likely be in a different genre. I’d love to see their take on sci-fi or fantasy. They already did the whole post apocalyptic horror thing.
