Peacemaker Dance Removed From Fortnite Following Show’s Big Twist for Season 2
The latest episode of Peacemaker Season 2 has just aired, and with it, the confirmation of what many fans online have been speculating about over the past few weeks. In a shocking revelation that even caught the developers at Epic Games by surprise, the dance emote (Peaceful Hips) used in the show’s intro was removed from Fortnite due to its potential secret meaning.
Fair warning, if you haven’t watched the latest episode (S2E6 Ignorance is Chris) of Peacemaker Season 2, there will be spoilers ahead.
Fortnite Removes the Peacemaker Dance

If you’ve been keeping up with Season 2 of Peacemaker, then by now you know the twist that was introduced in the latest episode, “Ignorance is Chris.” Towards the end of the episode, when the rest of the remaining 11th Street Kids crew (John Economos, Leota Adebayo, Vigilante, and Emilia Harcourt) travel to the alternative universe to try and get Chris (Peacemaker) back, it’s revealed that Chris’ “perfect” universe isn’t so perfect as the members quickly take notice that there are no people of color in this world, with Chris realizing after looking at the alternative Earth’s version of the American Flag, which featured the version of the Swaszika used by the Nazi party.
For weeks, many had speculated that this would be the big twist for the alternative Earth (which, in DC comics canon, is Earth X), given the absence of people of color in the early episodes and the flags being folded. Once people started to realize that, other clues began to become more apparent, including in the intro, where only Chris and other characters from Earth X are seen using a questionable dancing pose that many have declared to symbolize the Swastika.
Although when you align the two poses together, they form a more unusual shape, resembling an “H,” it does seem to hint at the twist, given all the new context laid out. For some, that might be a stretch, though, putting Season 1’s intro into perspective, after its big twist was revealed, many were in agreement that the intro was actually hinting at Project Butterfly as the characters would throw their hands up in the motion of wings, thought initially to be a reference to an eagle.
Whether or not the Season 2 dance is indeed referencing a Nazi Swastika, it has certainly put Epic Games on edge, as they’ve removed the emote entirely from the game pending clarification from DC.
“As we inquire into our partner’s creative intentions in this collab. Assuming it’s not coming back, we’ll issue refunds in the next few days.” A rep told DiscussingFilms on X.
The dance removal has sparked a pretty heated discussion on social media, with many calling it a stretch, and rather than remove it entirely, it should have been replaced with Season 1’s dance. Others have pointed out the hypocrisy of Epic Games in this removal, as skins for D4vd, Kanye West & Elon Musk all remain, with D4vd currently under investigation for murder and pedophilia, Kanye West claiming that Hitler did nothing wrong and even releasing a song about him, and Elon Musk allegedly pulling a Nazi salute earlier this year at a Trump event.
Whether intentional or not on James Gunn’s part, we suppose Epic Games is playing it safe with this one, despite the controversy around the skins mentioned above. If the emote is not returned, those who purchased it will be refunded.
We suppose this will likely spark some changes at Epic Games, where they’ll need to be informed in every facet of a collab to avoid potentially including something that could change in its meaning later in said IP.
