Report: Modern Warfare 2 PS5 Disc Only Houses 70MB of Data

modern warfare 2 ps5 disc

While more and more people are buying games digitally and on their platform’s digital storefront of choice, there are still those who want to keep the physical versions of their games. Not only that, but having a disc usually means that you’ll be able to play the game without downloading huge chunks of data. Sadly, that doesn’t seem to be the case for the latest Call of Duty, as the Modern Warfare 2 PS5 disc only has 70MB of data in it!

This was confirmed by gamers who managed to get hold of a game disc early. As you can see from the image below, it states that there is only 70MB of data installed.

This means that the game’s campaign, which is available for pre-order buyers, will need to be downloaded even if you own the disc. Unless, y’know, the entire campaign can fit into 70MB, which we highly doubt. Mind, this does make sense of yesterday’s massive 40GB title update. At this point, it looks like the disc holds nothing more than the actual game license, which kind of makes buying it on disc kind of pointless, no?

If you try and load it, it will tell you that you need to connect to the PlayStation Network and update the game in order to play it, which isn’t surprising.

No word yet on whether the Xbox versions are the same, but if you manage to snag one, hit us up via our tips hotline, so we can update the article with the information. Hopefully this isn’ the start of a trend, otherwise, what’s the point of buying discs then, no?

Thanks, Destruction Games, Does It Play

Modern Warfare 2 will fire out this October 28 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The point of buying the physical disc is that i can resell it on eBay to recoup some money back after playing the game for 3 months. Then i can reinvest that money to buy another game. Makes sense?
