Report: PS5 Discord Voice Integration Message Pops Up

Discord Down November 7

New screenshots of what is assumed to be a developer/alpha build of the Discord app on iOS has revealed that a Discord PS5 voice chat integration feature is currently in development, meaning gamers will soon be able to join Discord voice chats on PS5 consoles.

Check out the screenshots below:

The screenshots feature a new “Join Voice on PlayStation” button in the voice chat menu, pressing which leads to a screen asking users to link their PlayStation and Discord accounts. The screen also reveals that voice chat integration will not be brought to PS4 consoles. While the OP mentioned that the feature is “in development,” we at MP1st were personally unable to replicate their results in both the stable and TestFlight versions of the app.

Early last year, Sony and Discord announced a new partnership aimed at “empowering players to create communities and enjoy shared gaming experiences.” This January, Discord introduced the ability to link one’s PlayStation account with their Discord profile to display their current gaming activity. PlayStation gamers remained deprived of voice chat integration functionality, however, as that feature was brought to Xbox consoles this July. Even now as Discord voice chat integration for PlayStation consoles appears imminent, it seems functionality is not planned to come to PS4 (at least according to the image) though it is present on Xbox One.

Whatever the case, keep an eye out for the new “Join Voice on PlayStation” button in the Discord app on your phone as the feature eventually makes its way to the stable branch.

Bear in mind, given this isn’t an official announcement by Discord or Sony, treat it with a grain of salt still. That said, given the Discord and PlayStation partnership, it’s only a matter of time until we see this implemented.
