Report – TV Manufacturer TCL Says a PS5 Pro and a New Xbox Series are Launching Between 2023-2024

next-gen consoles

Take this news with a heavy grain of salt, but it would appear that the TV manufacture, TCL may know something about upcoming console revisions for the PS5 and Xbox Series as it has been revealed by them that a PS5 Pro and new Xbox Series are in the works, and are slated to release sometimes between 2023 and 2024.

The report comes from news Polish outlet, PPE, who had a correspondent attend an event hosted by TCL to discuss their latest TVs as well as future plans. During the presentation, the company unexpectedly revealed that gen 9 (PS5 and Xbox Series) would be getting a mid-gen refresh, enabling the consoles to support native 4K with frame-rates between 60 and 120fps, as well as 8K support. The difference is noted that the company lists the current consoles as “1440p/60-120fps rendered at UHD” while the mid-refresh would be “2160P/60-120fps rendered at UHD-8K.” That’s a significant jump in rendering power, as it suggests that not only will games be able to run at 8K, but that 4K would be a standard with 60fps.

It’s been rumored for sometime now that both Microsoft and Sony are working on new console revisions, some stating that they are simply slim models, while others saying that they would be similar the the revisions done last gen where we saw the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Of course those are rumored, and as noted, take this report with a huge grain of salt. If the PS5 Pro and new Xbox Series consoles are indeed real, don’t expect to hear about them officially anytime this year.
