Resident Evil Requiem: Leon Will Be “Driven to the Brink More Than Before,” Says Director
At The Game Awards, it was finally officially confirmed that Leon Kennedy will be a protagonist in Resident Evil Requiem. In our first look at the character, fans have apparently found a major detail that has yet to be confirmed and that’s how Leon seems to be infected in this upcoming game.
While Leon having some sort of virus in him is nothing new, since he did get infected with the Las Plagas virus in Resident Evil 4, it seems in Requiem, it’s something that’s far more serious.
Koshi Nakanishi Says Leon Will Be in His Strongest State in Resident Evil Requiem

Leon being sick is something Capcom hasn’t confirmed yet, but a recent statement from the game’s director Koshi Nakanishi seems to indicate that Leon will be pushed to his limits.
During a recent interview with Famitsu, Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi shared additional details about Leon S. Kennedy, and how while the character is in his strongest state, Requim will push the character like never before.
“Leon is in his strongest state, but in this game he will be driven to the brink more than ever before. I think an important point is that this will be a battle that pushes him to his limits,” he said.
He also mentioned that the team is excited to show more of Leon during the upcoming showcase in January 2026, where fans can expect to see more of him in action and learn more about his character in the upcoming game.
This is an exciting time for both the character and the franchise’s fans who have been waiting for Leon’s return. While the title is just a few months away from its release, the developers plan to reveal more information about the character in the coming months.
Resident Evil Requiem is launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) on February 27, 2026.
