Resident Evil Requiem: Leon Teased by Capcom All Along; Visual Cues Might Signal His Last Outing

Quite possibly the worst-kept secret of the year was finally put to rest at The Game Awards, as Capcom finally confirmed that Leon S. Kennedy will be in the game as a playable character.

However, did you know that Capcom has been teasing Leon’s appearance all this time? Yep, even with the game’s first trailer, Leon’s existence was already teased.

Of course, it requires a bit of visual gymnastics, but it is there.

Capcom Has Teased Leon in Resident Evil Requiem Since the Beginning

X user Sol-Rey discovered that in the final seconds, if you pause the subtitle “Requiem” at the exact frame, rotate it 180° and mirror the image, you’ll see the letters “LEON” line up perfectly. It’s in every trailer too, as pointed out by KATHYANHY:

However, the recent findings do not end there, though the next few ones are more assumptions than anything else, but they do seem to line up.

Fans have noticed an infection on Leon’s neck, and how this time around, the character is wearing full gloves, and not fingerless ones like he used in previous Resident Evil games.  This leads fans to believe Leon is infected badly and that includes his hands, which is something the trailer kind of alluded too.

Check out the images below (thanks, VGTimes):

Finally, fans also spotted that Leon’s ride in the trailer has the license plate “ND 9642,” with ND meaning “The End,” as in the end of Leon. The numbers correspond to the Resident Evil games he starred in RE9, RE6, RE4, RE2).

Is Resident Evil Requiem Leon’s final adventure? We can’t say for sure, and let’s face it, even if he dies, Capcom can always think of a way to bring the character back, right?

We’ll know all the answers to that when Resident Evil Requiem releases on February 27, 2026, on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Do check out our Leon-free hands-on preview of Resident Evil Requiem from earlier this year. We also ran a story two months ago on the existence of the Resident Evil 0 remake, which franchise fans will want to pore over for info.
