Rumor: Diablo 4 Release Date Targeting April 2023, Pre-Orders Planned for December

Diablo 4 Battle Pass

Could we be getting Diablo 4 in the first half of 2023? If a recent rumor is to be believed, the Diablo 4 release date is targeted to be in April 2023, with announcements for it dropping next month.

In the latest XboxEra podcast it’s been mentioned that Diablo 4 is slated for an April 2023 release; something WindowsCentral has corroborated with what they call their own “proven sources.” Additionally, WindowsCentral adds that they have seen “additional evidence” that an announcement is at hand for this December’s The Game Awards, with various beta windows planned as well.

Blizzard allegedly has a sizeable marketing plan for Diablo 4 that kicks off at The Game Awards, where not only will the release date be revealed, but alongside the various different editions as well such as digital editions, and a premium physical collector’s edition with various items for fans. One of the things mentioned as part of the pre-order benefits is early access to the Diablo 4 open beta, which is said to be planned in February 2023.

Bear in mind, none of the info above are from official sources, and as such, should be taken with a grain of salt. That said, The Game Awards has been the home of many announcements and game releases for the following year, and this seems to be a sensible move if true. Blizzard has also confirmed that a closed endgame beta for Diablo 4 is happening this year, so the development of the action-RPG should be in home stretch more or less.

Over on Twitter, Blizzard prez Mike Ybarra tweeted that people shouldn’t believe everything they read, which we’re presuming is somehow connected to the rumored game’s release window:

If you want to see how Diablo 4’s shaping up, go check out 50 minutes of leaked gameplay footage right here. We also posted a video of the character customization and other stuff as well.
