Steam Receives Over 200K Refund Requests Daily

One of Steam’s standout features is its straightforward refund process, which lets players explore games risk-free, as long as they play for less than two hours. But have you ever wondered just how many refund requests Steam handle on an average day?

Steam’s support page provides updates every 24 hours, showing the number of refund requests along with other statistics like security issues, account recovery, and technical support for games and the platform.

Just in the last 24 hours, Steam handled 215,928 refund requests. Despite the high volume, Steam’s response time remains fast. Steam support stats show that they processed the quickest refund request in only 52 minutes, while the longest took a little over 2 hours.

Besides refunds, Steam received 24,857 security and account recovery requests and 10,934 requests for purchase or billing assistance in the same period.

Technical support for games is also in high demand. Steam logged 4,143 tickets for help with game-related issues in the last 24 hours. Altogether, on November 5, 2024, Steam processed 260,177 support requests.

In the past 90 days, Steam’s support got the most requests on August 20, 2024, reaching 478,243. On the other hand, August 8, 2024, was the quietest day, with only 240,132 requests.

In other Steam news, Valve has updated its store to remind gamers that they don’t actually own the games bought on Steam but instead hold a license to use them. Meanwhile, GOG has responded with a statement, assuring players that games purchased on its platform “cannot be taken away.”
