Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – Rocksteady Doesn’t Refer to It as a Live Service, Tons of Free Content Planned

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Upcoming Balance Changes

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is launching later this month (via early access), bringing a new chapter to Rocksteady’s Batman universe. Though it’s not exactly his universe anymore, but the game expands upon the Arkhamverse still, introducing the Justice League and a host of new characters. Still, many are cautious about the title, seeing that it’s online-focused, and yet, despite that, Rocksteady themselves apparently don’t view the game as a live service or games as a service (GaaS), describing it to be full of the DNA of the Batman games and their biggest story yet.

“We don’t really think of our game as fitting with any particular label,” Rocksteady’s studio product director, Darius Sadeghian, said in the latest issue of Play Magazine (Feb. 2024)

“It’s still full of the DNA that infuses the Batman: Arkham series – those foundations of story and character are absolutely central to our process…story-wise, this is easily our biggest game, but we’re also really keen on being there for players who want to stay with us and continue the adventure. It’s really important to us that we’re generous with the people who play our game, so for the first year after launch, we’ve got masses of new content that will be completely free for people who own the game,”

He goes on to list that they have new stories, missions, locations, gear, costumes, collectible trinkets, and more that are planned to be free, with new characters being free for all players. There are even hints of new features being worked on. One of those new features that we know is coming is offline play.

It seems that Rocksteady has a plethora of content already planned, though let us hope that the base game is as beefy as any of their previous Batman games.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches in February for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Deluxe Editions will be granted early access on January 30.

So in other words, the offline mode will probably become available like a year after the game comes out.
