Tekken 8 Free Character DLC “Might” Be Considered Says Harada

Tekken 8 Free Character DLC

While it’s normal these days for companies to charge players for new characters in fighting games, is there a chance this could change in Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Tekken 8? Could players possibly get a Tekken 8 free character DLC down the road? It seems the door for that isn’t closed just yet.

Speaking to MP1st, we asked Tekken Project Chief Director Katsuhiro Harada about this, and while the Tekken boss didn’t say we’ll be getting any free DLC characters in the future, he did mention how they might consider it.

MP1st: Is there a chance we’ll get free fighters as DLC?

Harada: Characters are the most costly content to develop, but in terms of potential, we might consider further down the road. Please stay tuned for updates.

It’s not definite or anything, but at least it’s not a no, right? Some fighting games even offer a chance to try paid DLC characters for a limited time as well, which Bandai Namco might try at some point or another. In the same chat, Harada confirmed to us that a disconnect rate display fix is planned to be rolled out in April.

Stay tuned to our full interview hitting the site this week.

If you haven’t picked up Tekken 8 yet, you might want to check out our review where our own Paulmichael highly recommends it and states, “All Tekken fans should buy Tekken 8 without hesitation, and most fighting game fans will find something to like as well. Though the year may have just started, Tekken 8 will probably compete for fighting game of the year and barring any surprises, should be the runaway winner.”
