Ubisoft Confirms New The Division Content Coming in 2021 and 2022

With news that Ubisoft is tasking Massive Entertainment to make an open-world Star Wars game, some The Division players might have asumed that this meant the end of the looter shooter franchise. Thankfully, that doesn’t seem to be the case, as Ubisoft has confirmed more content is coming!

During the publisher’s quarterly earnings report, it announced that Massive Entertainment will continue to make new The Division content in both this year and even in 2022! The publisher states that Massive is a large studio that collaborates with other teams and is able to work on both franchises simultaneously.

That said, the publisher didn’t confirm whether this means Massive Entertainment is working on The Division 3, new The Division 2 DLCs like Warlords of New York, or just seasonal updates that fans have been getting since the game’s release in 2019. For The Division 2 player’s sake, let’s hope this means that actual content is being made and not just seasonal events and whatnot. Nonetheless, this is good news for franchise fans wondering whether Ubisoft will support the game this year and beyond.

What are you hoping to see in terms of more The Division content? Are you hoping that The Division 3 gets announced between now and next year?

Thanks, Benji-Sales!

So with 15 weeks or so left on the seasonal in game timer, that takes us to early June just before E3. If I was a marketing manage for Ubisoft my strategy would be to realise some fresh content, nothing to labour intensive to produce but something to get players back on, and then a couple of weeks later drop a major announcement and trailer for a game coming in March 2022…..
