Assassin's Creed Remakes

While we have Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is set in feudal Japan set to release later this year, it seems Ubisoft is also looking for past games in the franchise to re-release as remakes.

This was confirmed by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot in a recent Ubisoft chat. When asked about the franchise’s future on whether players should expect this continued release of a smaller entry in AC Mirage, and a bigger one in AC Shadows, Guillemot casually mentioned that multiple remakes are in development, which will allow the devs to revisit some of the games in the past and “modernize” them.

YG: Firstly, players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we’ve created in the past and modernize them; there are worlds in some of our older Assassin’s Creed games that are still extremely rich. Secondly, to answer your question, there will be plenty of experience variety. The goal is to have Assassin’s Creed games come out more regularly, but not for it to be the same experience every year. There are a lot of good things to come, including Assassin’s Creed Hexe, which we’ve announced, which is going to be a very different game from Assassin’s Creed Shadows. We’re going to surprise people, I think.

This is the first official confirmation we’ve gotten that there are indeed Assassin’s Creed remakes in the works. No word yet on which Assassin’s Creed entry will be getting the remake treatment, but if I had to hazard a guess, it would be the first one, which was released back in 2007.

As for this year’s entry in the series, Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches on November 15 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Go check out this extended gameplay look to see how the combat differs from past entries.
