Originally intended to release last year, it would seem that Digital Extreme’s parent company, Leyou Technologies Holdings Limited is targeting the studio’s next expansions, Waframe New War and the next open-world, Plains of Duviri, to release sometime this year.
This news was confirmed in the annual 2019 earning report by Leyou Technologies Holdings Limited, which discussed some of the future plans for the Warframe series.
” Looking ahead to 2020, content updates for Warframe in the story quest, The New War and another open world are planned to be launched in 2020. ”
Of course, being planned doesn’t mean it will release this year, especially with Digital Extreme’s history of pushing updates out. In fact, the New War content drop was originally planned for Christmas 2019 but has since received a delay with no new release. We will most likely hear more about New War and Duviri Paradox in July, during the annual Tennocon event.

For now, players can enjoy the new update that just released on all platforms, which not only brought a bunch of quality of life improvements but also the new Operation Scarlet Spear event.
Introducing Operation: Scarlet Spear – a brand new event that requires the ultimate effort from the Tenno. The fight against the Sentient Threat has reached new heights – and the Tenno will be using the new “Operation Link” aka OpLink! Ground teams and Space teams will be connected realtime using OpLink – working together to deter the Sentients!
We should be getting some new details on the new Warframe coming to the game real soon, so stay tuned for that!
