Microsoft’s decision to release Xbox games on PS5 instead of keeping everything exclusive may already be paying off.

Instead of locking everything to one platform, Microsoft seems to be focusing more on reaching more players and making more money across different consoles.

Xbox Made 667 Million Dollars From PS5 Without Call of Duty or Diablo

A new report says that Xbox games released on PS5 have generated about 667 million dollars in revenue, even after the share that PlayStation takes from each digital sale.

According to Alinea Analytics, Forza Horizon 5 is the best-selling Xbox game on PS5, with about 5.8 million copies sold. It is followed by Sea of Thieves with 2.7 million copies, The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered with 1.2 million, and Grounded with around 770 thousand copies. The data only includes games that sold more than 100 thousand copies.

On the other hand, some titles sold much less. Age of Mythology Retold reached about 120 thousand copies, The Outer Worlds 2 around 163 thousand, Age of Empires II Definitive Edition about 173 thousand, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 around 252 thousand.

More recent games also show mixed results, as Starfield has passed 200 thousand copies on PS5 despite technical issues at launch, while DOOM The Dark Ages and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle have both sold a little over 500 thousand copies, and Gears of War Reloaded is getting close to 700 thousand copies sold.

It is also worth mentioning that the report does not include major titles like Call of Duty and Diablo IV, so the real total could be even higher.

All of this shows that bringing Xbox games to other platforms can work, even if not every title performs the same. This is especially important right now, as Xbox is going through a big shift in strategy.

With Asha Sharma now leading the company, Xbox is making several changes after a difficult period with cancellations, layoffs, and studio closures. Game Pass has dropped in price, and “Microsoft Gaming” has been changed back to Xbox.

The company now needs this new direction to succeed, whether it continues releasing games on other platforms or moves back toward exclusives. Some future titles like Forza Horizon 6 and Halo Campaign Evolved are already planned for PS5, but with recent rumors about exclusives returning, it’s still unclear what Xbox will do next.
