Grand Theft Auto 5 Update 1.008.001 for PS5, Xbox Series Adds Performance Improvements
[summaraize]
There’s a new patch for Grand Theft Auto 5 out today on consoles, though it doesn’t bring in any new content. Players can now download GTA 5 update 1.008.001 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (the patch isn’t out on last-gen platforms), which slaps in various performance improvements to the game.
Given we got the big Agents of Sabotage patch for GTA Online last month, don’t expect anything major from this patch download.

Game Stability and Performance
- Fixed a set of issues which were resulting in crashes when playing GTA Online
- Fixed an issue that resulted in a crash when playing ‘Gather Intel’ for The Cayo Perico Heist on Xbox Series X|S consoles
- Fixed an issue that resulted in a crash when playing the mission ‘Pack Man’ in GTAV on Xbox Series X|S consoles
While GTA 5 might still be getting updates, all eyes are now on Grand Theft Auto 6, which is scheduled to drop later this year. The game’s reach is so massive that even competing video game publishers are steering clear of it with their game releases.
GTA 6 is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S later this year, with no mention of the PC version. Having said that, Take-Two’s CEO sort of confirms it’s on the way, though via another announcement.
