While the entire gaming world is waiting for the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer 3 to be released by Rockstar Games, we’ll have to wait a bit more before that happens.

In Take-Two Interactive’s quarterly earnings report held today, company CEO Strauss Zelnick clarified a few things amid all the rumors that have been surfacing since last week.

First off, Zelnick confirmed something we reported on a few days ago, and that’s GTA 6 is not getting delayed, and is on track for its November 19 release date.

GTA 6 Marketing Won’t Start Until Summer

In Take-Two Interactive’s quarterly earnings call, Zelnick confirmed GTA 6 is on track for release on November 19, with marketing not slated to start until sometime in “late June.”

Zelnick states, “Summer technically begins at the end of June, meaning that marketing isn’t starting imminently…So, the next few weeks, I don’t think it’ll be summertime yet, but when it’s summertime, Rockstar expects to start marketing GTA 6.”

This means that all those rumors about Take-Two releasing a trailer before the company’s quarterly earnings report are all wrong. There was even that Best Buy pre-order rumor that surfaced, which Zelnick debunked today as well, as the CEO said that pre-orders typically start alongside marketing — which is in the summer, in an interview with Bloomberg.

Take-Two earnings: Grand Theft Auto VI is still planned for November 19. No delay. In an interview with Bloomberg today, CEO Strauss Zelnick said he didn't know where this week's Best Buy rumors came from and that pre-orders typically start alongside marketing (which will begin this summer).

Alongside the GTA 6 info, Zelnick revealed that GTA 5 is now at nearly 230 million units sold, and the Grand Theft Auto franchise is now at 470 million units sold combined.

It’s not just the GTA franchise that’s raking it in for Take-Two. Red Dead Redemption 2 is now at 85 million units sold, making it the third best-selling game of all-time.

Well, there you have it. Don’t expect the GTA 6 third trailer to be released until sometime in June –unless it leaks, of course. That said, Take-Two doesn’t really need to market GTA 6, as the game and brand is so huge that they can release the game today, and it would still break all kinds of records.

For those unfamiliar with the USA’s seasons, summer starts in late June and typically ends in late September.

Speaking of marketing for GTA 6, Zelnick said they are doing a “broad-based” marketing campaign for GTA 6, which is different from how they marketed GTA 5.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is due for release on November 19 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S.
