PS5 System Update 26.06-14.10.00 Rolled Out on October 1
Last month, Sony pushed out a system update on the PlayStation 5 that enhanced the PSSR image quality by default.
Bit even a month after, Sony has once again pushed out a new firmware patch, though this one is smaller in scope. Players can now download PS5 update 26.06-14.10.00 | 26.06-14.10.00.03, and this clocks in at just 1.2 GB.
As one might expect given we just got a significant system update, today’s download is a minor one.
PS5 System Update on October 1, 2026 Gives Us What We Expect
Per Sony, today’s patch does the following:
- We’ve made some security fixes to the system software.
- We’ve improved system software performance and stability.
If you haven’t turned on or updated your console since last month, the previous firmware update added the following features:
- We’ve turned on Enhance PSSR Image Quality as a default setting. When you update the system software, this setting automatically turns on. When you enable this feature, enhanced PSSR is used even for games that support the previous version of PSSR, so you can enjoy a sharper and clearer visual experience.
- You can now see who’s speaking while you’re in a voice chat.
- We’ve added the Community Activity widget to your Welcome Hub. You can switch between the following views.
- We’ve changed the following features for PS5 consoles and PS5 Pro consoles in certain countries or regions.
Another tasty new addition today is from the game’s side, as Sony has pushed out game updates to Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yotei that added QSSR (Quick Spectral Super Resolution), which can be experienced by base PS5 owners.
Sony explains QSSR as a new performance tier of AI upscaling. Born from Project Amethyst, our AI graphics collaboration with AMD, this quick new evolution of PSSR is built on two key innovations:
- A streamlined neural network architecture
- A hand-tuned implementation that maximizes performance on PS5
Expect more first-party games to be updated to add this new feature soon.
