Ghost of Yotei Update 2.005 Turns on QSSR by Default, Launches Complete Edition
Today’s the day, Yotei players! Sucker Punch Productions launches Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition today, adding new content to those who purchase the new edition, or upgrade their existing copies.
Not only that, but there’s also a new game patch for the samurai title today, and this adds a new feature from Sony.
Players can download Ghost of Yotei update 2.005 | 2.005.000, and this adds QSSR. What is QSSR? Read on, samurai warrior.
Ghost of Yotei Update 2.005 Launches Complete Edition, Adds QSSR Support
Today’s update adds QSSR (Quick Spectral Super Resolution) for base PS5 owners. Yotei and Marvel’s Wolverine (also received an update today) are the first two games to receive this feature, and we expect more first-party games to receive an update to apply this in the coming weeks and months.
Per Sony: Today, we’re excited to announce Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR): a new performance tier of AI upscaling. Born from Project Amethyst, our AI graphics collaboration with AMD, this quick new evolution of PSSR is built on two key innovations:
- A streamlined neural network architecture
- A hand-tuned implementation that maximizes performance on PS5
With these, we are bringing the benefits of AI-guided upscaling to PS5. While PSSR remains the gold standard on PS5 Pro, QSSR provides some notable improvements to both image detail and image stability on PS5.
Jasmin Patry, Lead Rendering Engineer / Sucker Punch Productions, had this to say about the new feature.

QSSR excels at resolving the fine details in our characters and environments and does so with a level of temporal stability that hasn’t been possible on the PS5 console until now. We’ve long wished that all PS5 players could experience the incredible image quality that PSSR brings to PS5 Pro, and QSSR is a positive step towards that goal!”

Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition Launches Today
Players who upgrade or purchase Ghost of Yotei: Complete Edition can expect the following pieces of content:
Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara is our new narrative expansion. Split between the present day and flashbacks to Atsu’s time on the mainland, you’ll meet Nagato, a figure from Atsu’s past who has arrived in Ezo. In the present, you’ll explore a previously unseen valley once inhabited by The Snake and his gang of loyal followers, the Vipers. In the past, you’ll experience Atsu’s time in the Battle of Sekigahara and a key moment in her life before she returned home for her quest for vengeance. You’ll meet new enemies and find new heavy weapons, new armor sets, new dyes, and more.
Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted is a brand new single-player combat survival mode, our spin on a roguelike. You’ll accept bounties in order to start new runs, where taking down enemies will earn you perks, as well as unlock additional characters to play as. We’ll have much more to show soon, but as you can see in the trailer today, Atsu is a master with the dual katana, while Oyuki excels with the kusarigama, and Nagato shines with a yari. We love to watch the amazing combat reels that have been shared with us on social media, and can’t wait to see you all try to perfect these runs.
Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition also includes all of the in-game content previously included in the Ghost of Yōtei Digital Deluxe Edition, as well as the Charm of Hokkyokusei. If you purchase by September 30, you’ll also get an early unlock of the Sakai Armor on October 1 for Atsu to wear, a throwback to Jin’s family armor from Ghost of Tsushima.
Other stuff included in the Complete Edition includes:
- New tracks for Watanabe Mode that will be available throughout the entire game when the mode is enabled.
- New photo mode stamps
- Additional cosmetics for New Game+, and new Trophies for both Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted.
There are also new armor sets that sees Yotei crossover with other PlayStation properties too. The confirmed armor sets included in the Complete Edition include:
- The Last of Us Armor Set
- Helldivers Armor Set
- Astro Bot Armor Set
- Journey Armor Sewt
Base game owners should have seen the new additions/features such as transmog in the previous patches released, though Sucker Punch hasn’t released a comprehensive changelog just yet.
Base game owners should also have received the new Beauty of Yotei mode and new Watanabe tracks
