Battlefield 2042 Beta Unknown Error and QR Code Issues Surfacing, Here’s What They Mean

Battlefield 2042 Beta Unknown Error

It’s finally live, Battlefield fans! The Battlefield 2042 beta is now up for those with early access (info here). Unfortunately, it seems some issues are preventing players from playing. Right now, players are seeing the Battlefield 2042 beta Unknown Error issue crop up, as well as a message with a QR code which seems to suggest they don’t have early access priviliges (even if they do via pre-ordering, EA Play subscription, etc.).

Battlefield 2042 Beta Unknown Error, QR Code Issues:

DICE Lead Community Manager Adam Freeman has explained that the unknown issues message has something to do with the servers:

  • Unknown Error when attempting to Matchmake

For players presently playing on Early Access, we’re aware that some of you are presently unable to join a server. We are scaling up more and more throughout the morning to help meet the demand, and we’ll get you all on the Battlefield as soon as possible

Hopefully, this gets resolved soon.

As for the QR code error, DICE is aware of it, and has posted a message about it, too (via EA Answers)!

  • The QR Code Screen is still showing for eligible Early Access players

We’re investigating what could be causing this one, and will update with more info when we have it.

We’ll update the post if there’s anything new to report, or if new developments arise. Don’t forget, the beta build we are playing now is a “few months old,” so expect things to be smoother come launch.
