Battlefield 6 Vegas Confirmed; Proximity Chat Inbound on September 15 But Will Initially Be Available Only in Battle Royale
We’re here to deliver some good news and bad news. As the headline implies, proximity chat is finally coming to Battlefiedl 6! The bad news? It’ll only be available in REDSEC — the game’s battle royale mode — at least initially.
This was shared by the developers today, as the datamine of Rapid Royale being a new mode for REDSEC is confirmed. Not only that, but a new image has also confirmed that Vegas will indeed be part of Battlefield 6’s future.
Battlefield 6 Will Make Comms Easier for Teammates
First on the table is the confirmation of proximity chat set to be rolled out on September 15. The developers have shared, “The first iteration of Proximity Chat arrives on September 15 and will initially be available in Battle Royale.”
The studio adds, “Proximity Chat creates new opportunities for unexpected encounters and player-driven moments that can completely change the outcome of a match. A tense standoff in the final circle? Last-minute negotiations before bullets start flying? How about…all of the above.”
More info will be shared when we’re closer to the rollout, which we presume will be via a game update.
No date has been given on when we can expect this in multiplayer, but we’re hoping it won’t take long for it to be implemented.
EA has also confirmed Rapid Royale, which is a mode that was datamined recently.
The studio states, “Coming in Season 5, Rapid Royale is a new variant of Battle Royale built around faster matches, more frequent engagements, and less time spent searching for the next fight. Built on the same foundation as REDSEC Battle Royale, Rapid Royale turns up the pace with reduced player counts, smaller play spaces, faster-moving circles, and shorter match lengths.”
This mode will debut in Season 5, which has no start date yet. For more on the new season, check out the datamined content, which includes new soldier skins showcasing collabs with Dead Space and Medal of Honor.
Don’t forget, Season 5 will also see the introduction of server browser, which is part of the season’s grand content rollout that includes new maps, weapons and more. Looking ahead, EA has confirmed that more seasons are on the way past this year’s Season 5.
