Battlefield Bad Company 1 & 2, BF 1943 Sunsetting and Server Shutdown Set for Dec. 8, 2023 (Update)

battlefield bad company sunsetting

We’re here to be the bearer of bad news for those who are still playing some of the old Battlefield games, as EA has announced that Battlefield: Bad Company 1 and BC2, Battlefield 1943 and even Mirror’s Edge are all sunsetting (servers shutting down) this December 8, 2023!

The announcement from EA also states that these three titles will be pulled from all digital storefronts and will no longer be purchasable on April 28, 2023.

Starting April 28 2023, Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company 1 & 2 and Mirror’s Edge will be removed from digital storefronts and you will no longer be able to purchase them. This is in preparation for the retirement of the online services for these titles which will happen on December 8 2023. For Bad Company 1 & 2 and Mirror’s Edge, you can still continue playing them and use their respective offline features, such as the single player campaign. You can also read our FAQ and Service Updates for further information on the retirement of online services.

Thankfully, offline modes will still be playable at the very least — though that’s still a hard blow for multiplayer fans — especially since some Battlefield players consider Bad Company 2 as the best multiplayer experience for the franchise.

If you know anyone who’s a Battlefield game fan, let them know about this. Play BC2 and even BF1943’s multiplayer as much as you can, we just have a few short months to savor it before they’re gone forever (outside of the modding scene).

Update: EA has issued a clarification that Mirror’s Edge is not included in the games being delisted!
