Black Ops 7 Reveal Trailer Draws Less Than 1% of Likes, as Comments Are Flooded With Excitement for Battlefield 6
It seems that Battlefield 6 is having a somewhat adverse effect on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, as the reception to the recent reveal trailer on YouTube appears to be anything but enthusiastic.
It’s so dire, that, believe it or not, comments mentioning Battlefield 6 have ended up with more likes than the entire Black Ops 7 reveal trailer.
Call of Duty Black Ops 7’s Reveal Trailer Is One of the Most Disliked Call of Duty Trailers

It’s not often you see a Call of Duty trailer amassing so many views, with a good chunk of viewers disliking it, though that’s exactly what’s happening with Black Ops 7.
With over 20 million views and counting, the trailer, per the Return YouTube Dislike extension, has nearly 200,000 dislikes and 38,000 likes. Although the number isn’t 100% accurate, some comments on the video have garnered a huge amount of likes. One comment, for instance, saying, “This actually made me Pre-Order Battlefield 6,” has gained over 72,000 likes.
Other Battlefield-related comments have also garnered a significant number of likes, with some drawing comparisons to the release of Battlefield 1 in the same year as Advanced Warfare, a game that faced heavy criticism from the Call of Duty fanbase at the time.
While we do not doubt that sales for Black Ops 7 will still outperform Battlefield 6 due to the sheer size of the series, it is interesting to see that there’s a clear shift in opinion about the game in online communities. Call of Duty games have always gotten a good amount of “hate” with every release, but with Black Ops 7, it seems that there is a general lack of excitement on all fronts. Of course, given how Call of Duty seems to have overemphasized cosmetics, it is one of the main reasons why gamers are not particularly fond of the franchise currently. Couple that with the Vault Edition skins following that trend, and well, you get the idea.
Of course, that is in part due to the recent Battlefield 6 open beta, which was estimated to have seen over 20 million players across all platforms. While there are still issues to iron out for it ahead of launch, the general reception for Battlefield 6 has been relatively positive, not just with Battlefield fans, but also long-time Call of Duty players.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that Black Ops 7 is in trouble. Still, it puts it in a precarious position with the hardcore fanbase and marks a rare year where its main competitor, Battlefield, has captured the public’s excitement and dominated the online conversation. To such an extent that even Battlefield 2042 experienced a massive surge in players.
It’s going to be interesting to see how both titles fare, as they both are launching later this year.
