Techland has also shared how Standard Edition owners of Dying Light can switch to the Enhanced Edition:

To access your free new content :

  • – Launch Dying Light
  • – In the main menu choose the option “DLC Packs”
  • – Download all the new content!

List of now free DLCs

  • Dying Light The Following (including a new story, new map, and vehicle)
  • The Bozak Horde
  • Crash Test Skin Pack
  • Ultimate Survivor Bundle
  • Cuisine & Cargo

While this was met with fanfare from those who have only owned the base game for years now, there are some Enhanced Edition owners who felt that they have been screwed over, as evidenced by the comments on the same thread. There’s also a question with regards to those who just purchased the Enhanced Edition yesterday, or maybe even today, just before the announcement. It’s always going to be a bit controversial whenever free DLC or upgrades come around, but for the moment, if you’ve only owned the Standard Edition, you’re pretty lucky indeed.

News of this free upgrade couldn’t have came at a better time, as the game also received a new update today, which adds a new DLC plus several changes and fixes. Check out the full patch notes here.
