Not only did we get our first look at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer gameplay last week, Activision also announced the Modern Warfare beta schedule as well. Given how betas are handled these days, it’s understandable that a lot of people have a lot of questions about it. Thankfully, Activision pushed out the Modern Warfare FAQ, which should answer all or most of the questions you might have.

You can pre-order or pre-purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Battle.net, and most retailers.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta codes are available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Blizzard Battle.net.

You don’t need one! Code redemption is not necessary for pre-orders through the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store, or pre-purchases through Battle.net. You’re automatically registered to participate in Early Access for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC. When the Early Access begins, you’ll be able to download it immediately.

In most cases, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Early Access Beta code will be printed on the retail receipt or sent to you via email on an online receipt. If you didn’t receive a Beta code or can’t locate it, please contact your retailer.

Weekend 1 – PlayStation 4 Exclusive:

September 12th to September 13th: PS4 Early Access
September 14th to September 16th: PS4 Open Beta

Weekend 2: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Blizzard Battle.net:

September 19th to September 20th: Early Access on Xbox One*, and PC*. Open Beta on PS4
September 21st to September 23rd: Open Beta on PS4, Xbox One, and PC

Specific timing will be announced closer to the start of the Beta.

* MP Beta Early Access starts September 12, 2019, on PS4 system; Open MP Beta begins September 14, 2019, on PS4 system; other platforms to follow. Actual platform availability and launch date(s) of MP Beta subject to change. See callofduty.com/beta for more details. Minimum Open Beta duration is two days. Limited time only, while Early Access Beta codes last, at participating retailers. Internet connection required.

Pre-order or pre-purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for PlayStation 4, Xbox One*, or PC* from a participating retailer, the PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Store, or Blizzard Battle.net. When you pre-order or pre-purchase from a participating retailer, you will receive a 13-character Beta early access code redeemable at callofduty.com/beta(example: XXXX-XXXXX-XXXX).

Please note: Early Access Beta codes are only required for pre-orders through a participating retailer. If you pre-ordered through the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, or Battle.net, you are automatically validated to participate in Early Access for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta.

Head over to callofduty.com/beta and follow the instructions on the page to reserve your spot in Early Access for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta. Once your Early Access Beta code is successfully redeemed, you will be registered for Early Access. Registered players will then receive an Early Access Beta token via email before the Beta begins.

You’ll need to log in with a Call of Duty account and enter your Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Early Access Beta code.

If you don’t have a Call of Duty account, you can create a free one. After creating your free account, you’ll be sent an account verification email to the address you provided.

To ensure you receive updates on the Beta, double-check your email address and make sure it is up to date in our system. Log in to your Call of Duty profile to check or make changes to your registered email address.

If you’ve lost, can’t find, or can’t read your Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Early Access Beta code that you received for pre-ordering, please contact your retailer to recover your code.

You’ll receive a code only for the console that you pick when you register your Early Access Beta code.

Tokens will be sent close to the beginning of your Beta start date. Specific timing TBA.

Activision will send your Early Access Beta Token to the registered email address that you have provided in your Call of Duty account. To ensure you receive updates on the Beta, please double-check your email address and make sure it is up to date in our system. Log in to your Call of Duty profile to check or make changes to your registered email address.

After the Early Access Beta Tokens are emailed, they will also be available at callofduty.com/beta.

No, you’re automatically registered to participate in Early Access for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC. Your existing pre-order will unlock the Beta, and you do not need another code as long as you have redeemed the Captain Price in Blackout incentive.
