Mortal Kombat 12 Releasing in 2023 According to Warner Bros. Discovery

Mortal Kombat 11 support

In its Q4 2022 earnings call today, Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed that NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 12 title will be released sometime in 2023. No other details about the game have been announced, but a formal announcement from NetherRealm Studios should be pretty close.

Owned by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, NetherRealm Studios has been virtually silent about a new Mortal Kombat since the release of Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019. Files possibly pertaining to a potential Mortal Kombat 12 were seen on a NetherRealm Studios developer’s workstation early last year, but the slip was not addressed afterwards. Development on Mortal Kombat 11 has long ceased, and studio head Ed Boon finally revealed back in November that the company’s next game announcement would either be Injustice 3 or Mortal Kombat 12.

During the webcast of Warner Bros. Discovery’s Q4 2022 earnings call today, it was revealed that the company expects MK12 to be released during 2023 along with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The parent company has “ambitious launch projections” for the release of these games, so we can expect significant marketing of MK12 pending a formal announcement from NetherRealm Studios in the coming months.
