New Battlefield Labs Leak Features Tank Gameplay, Gives Early Look at Menus, Squad Screen, UI
[summaraize]
While we just got a short look at leaked gameplay of the new Battlefield game via the first playtest session of Battlefield Labs, more gameplay has surfaced. This one includes our first look at tank gameplay, which might put a smile on Battlefield veterans’ faces.
In addition to that, we also have footage of the game’s in-development menus, user interface, squad screen and more. Again, the footage below is from pre-alpha gameplay, and as such, is not representative of the final product you’ll see at launch. There are placeholder assets, animations aren’t fully formed and more. If you notice bugs, graphical glitches, this is the exact reason why publisher Electronic Arts doesn’t want the gaming populace seeing it right away.
Tank Gameplay in Battlefield Labs Looks Similar to BF3/BF4
As you can see, the tank can sit five players simultaneously. There are also vehicle perks/modifications such as smoke grenades that I’m assuming you’ll be able to unlock by earning proficiency with the vehicle.
The good news is that the tank’s combat behavior and controls all look similar to Battlefield 3 or BF4. If so, I doubt anyone will complain about that, given that the two games’ vehicular combat was one of the best in the franchise.
The next clip shows infantry gameplay as one squad attacks the opposing side and even encounters a tank! We then get to how the gunplay is shaping up, which DICE emphasizes along with the movement philosophy.
Lastly, we have footage of the game’s menus, user interface and even the squad screen! Given the state they’re in the leaked footage, these are obviously a work in progress, and as such, shouldn’t be judged right away.
So far, EA hasn’t acknowledged the leaks, though it is getting a warm reception on social media, so EA at least has that to boost its confidence that it is on the right path. The publisher is aware that there is trepidation among the Battlefield player base, given that the past Battlefield games we’ve gotten didn’t really live up to expectations.
