Report: XDefiant Factions Leak Mentions Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six Siege and More

XDefiant new season weapons

In XDefiant, Ubisoft worlds’ collide where factions come from iconic Ubisoft franchises and their distinct abilities come into play.. For those who’ve been keeping tabs on the game, Ubisoft has already revealed the Libertad, Phantoms, Echelon, Cleaners, and DedSec factions. Well, thanks to an XDefiant factions leak via datamine, it seems we now know some of the factions incoming post-launch.

The  datamine, which stemmed from the beta that ran this June, and was spotted on Reddit, revealing a few more faction names and the Ubisoft game associated with them. Before reading on, it’s important to note that none of these are final, and as such, should be taken with a bag of salt.

According to the dataminer, the spotted XDefiant factions yet to be revealed include:

  • Assassin’s Creed
  • GSG9 (Rainbow Six Siege)
  • Wolves /Black Tusk
  • Spetsnaz (Placeholder)
  • Highwaymen

Ubisoft fans will easily identify the games/series some of these belong to, which include Far Cry, The Division 2, and Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, among others. There’s also a list of faction abilities that got unearthed as well, which we’re guessing is for the Wolves faction from Breakpoint.

  • Aegis (Ultra) – Spherical plasma shield combined with an electro-scattergun for close-quarters combat
  • (Unnamed ability) – An attack drone that moves in a line, firing at enemies in range, and acting as an aerial turret at its destination
  • Legion B – A throwable drone that will seek out enemies within range and explode on impact
  • Wolf Blood (Passive) – Invisible and un-targetable by electronic or AI based skills and gadgets

Again, as a disclaimer, some of the images and info above could be placeholder info, as these are all obtained through unofficial channels. However, the Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six Siege franchises being part of the factions in the future is a no-brainer and is something fans of the game expecting.

While we still wait for the XDefiant release date, you can be rest assured that it won’t be “shadow dropped” – a term often used when a game launches out of the blue. Players will have time to pre-load and get prepared for these FPS battles, as Ubisoft will give everyone a heads-up. A Steam release for XDefiant isn’t ruled out yet, but a physical version isn’t going to happen, mostly due to the fact that this is a free-to-play game.
