After unveiling a remake of Resident Evil 4 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S at June’s PlayStation State of Play event, Capcom revealed during its Tokyo Game Show 2022 showcase that the Resident Evil 4 remake will also be coming to the last-gen PS4 console.

When Capcom announced the Resident Evil 4 Remake back at June’s State of Play along with an in-engine cinematic trailer, it explicitly mentioned the platforms the game would be coming to: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, marking the end of an era for the hugely successful eighth generation of consoles that included the PS4, the Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.

This is no longer the case, as Resident Evil 4’s producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed during Capcom’s Tokyo Game Show 2022 showcase that the Resident Evil 4 Remake would also be coming to the PS4. Having explicitly mentioned considering “releasing on previous generation hardware” and the fact that cloud versions of four Resident Evil titles are coming to the Nintendo Switch, not releasing the Resident Evil 4 Remake for it and the Xbox One is a significant omission.

Capcom did not confirm whether the Resident Evil 4 Remake would release on the PS4 the same day as the March 23, 2023 release date for the remake’s PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions.

In the same event, Capcom also announced a Resident Evil Showcase, set to take place sometime in October, and promised more details about Resident Evil Village and the Resident Evil 4 Remake at the event.

Capcom also took the time to announce a new Resident Evil Showcase set to take place sometime in October. More details about the Resident Evil 4 Remake and the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition will be revealed at the showcase.

We can also probably expect more details and progress updates on Resident Evil Village Cloud and other Resident Evil cloud titles (Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Resident Evil, Resident Evil VII: Biohazard) recently announced for the Nintendo Switch as well as the macOS version of Resident Evil Village at the Resident Evil Showcase in October, as these releases were explicitly mentioned during the Tokyo Game Show event.
