Resident Evil Village Early Access Scam Emails Are Out in the Wild

Resident Evil Village Early Access Scam

With Resident Evil Village set for release soon, it looks like would-be scammers are capitalizing on the game’s popularity to try and hook people with a Resident Evil Village early access scam that’s circulating around via emails.

Capcom themselves sent us a warning and made it very clear that these messages are NOT from Capcom, and there are no early access invites going out for Resident Evil Village. According to Capcom, the address the scammers are using email address “no-reply(at)capcom(dot)com”which might fool some people.

This isn’t the first video game-related phising scam, and definitely not the last. Just last month, Far Cry 6 phishing emails were being sent out, though that one was far easier to make out that it was a fake. If Capcom does send out an official Resident Evil Village early access invite or a beta invite for the game’s bundled multiplayer mode, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. Until then, stay away from these things.

Resident Evil Village is set for release this May 7, and will feature a free multiplayer poriton called RE:Verse.
