Rumor: EA to Announce an Exclusive Partnership With Microsoft During Next-Gen Xbox Reveal

This April, not only is it rumored that Microsoft will unveil their next-generation Xbox, but sources now claim Electronic Arts will also take the stage to announce and exclusive partnership with the company.

Two sources have told CVG that an agreement has been secured between EA and Microsoft’s Xbox firm which will be discussed during Microsoft’s rumored Xbox event. It’s unclear however, what exactly will be shown or what the terms of the deal will be.

Rival publishing company Activision announced a similar exclusive partnership with Sony during their PlayStation event, revealing that content would be coming to Bungie’s Destiny exclusive to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

EA chief financial officer hinted at a deal with Microsoft last Tuesday while speaking at a Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference.

When asked why EA was not present during Sony’s announcement of the PlayStation 4, CFO Blake Jorgensen answered, “It was more about timing of our own slate as well as trying to maintain a good balance of power with all the parties out there and choosing when to unveil certain pieces of software.”

He added, “I’d say, between now and E3, you are going to see a lot of stuff, and we are going to choose with our marketing teams when to announce.”

What EA might have in the works is completely up in the air, but what you do think would be most likely? Exclusive downloadable content? Timed exclusive deals with game titles? Or, might it involve titles like Battlefield 4 or Respawn Entertainment’s game?
