Skull and Bones Delayed for the Sixth Time, Now Set for Release in “Early 2023-2024”

skull and bones delayed

It looks like even more bad news has arrived for Ubisoft fans. After the game developer announced three more canceled projects, the upcoming pirate game Skull and Bones was revealed to be delayed for the sixth time. This comes a few months after an announcement that the game was previously delayed to March 9 of this year.

In Ubisoft’s recent earnings report, this is what the studio had to say about Skull and Bones:

Players will be able to discover the beauty of Skull and Bones in the upcoming beta phase. The additional time has already paid off and brought impressive improvements to its quality, which has been confirmed by recent playtests. We believe players will be positively surprised by its evolution. We have decided to postpone its release in order to have more time to showcase a much more polished and balanced experience and to build awareness. Skull and Bones will now be released early 2023-24.

Ubisoft does acknowledge the game’s previous delays and notes that this has helped give the game more time to develop and become better, as confirmed via playtesting. Still, it looks like we won’t be able to get our hands on Skull and Bones just yet, with the game coming out “early 2023-24.” If this is based on Ubisoft’s fiscal year, which ends on March 31 and starts on April 1, we should expect the game to come out a few months after that, barring no further delays.

While it seems like Ubisoft is quite hesitant to release Skull and Bones will all of the game’s delays, the report does give a bit of hope that the extra time has paid off for the developer. Skull and Bones is set to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
