Sonic Frontiers Sales Passes 3.5 Million Copies Sold, Considered a “Great Hit” by SEGA

Just last month, we reported that Sonic Frontiers managed to break 3.2 million units sold. Well, it seems that figure has already been eclipsed, as SEGA has announced that Sonic Frontiers sales have now breached 3.5 million copies sold!

This was announced by SEGA during their the company’s Rovio press conference where the studio talked about the company’s future where other games were discussed. In it, Shuji Utsumi, Co-COO and President of Consumer Game and Transmedia at SEGA mentioned, ” SEGA has introduced a new Sonic title every year. The last year, we introduced Sonic Frontiers…we released last year, it was a great hit, already hitting 3.5 million units.”

You can watch Utsumi’s announcement in the video below (around the 16:30 mark):

This new sales development shouldn’t really come as a surprise, as just a few months ago, SEGA announced that the title has ‘greatly exceeded” the original expectations for it. Thankfully, the game is being supported with post-launch content starting with the Sights, Sounds and Speed update released in March. Outside of that, SEGA has also confirmed that there are two more free content updates planned for Sonic Frontiers for the year as well. Once we know more about it, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Congrats, SEGA! I assume this means a sequel is incoming. While nothing has been announced just yet, the game’s director did say that they players shouldn’t expect “boosting” to be a part of it.

Thanks, @Radical_1991!
