In recent times, Ubisoft has been struggling, especially after several high-profile games like Star Wars Outlaws did not meet commercial expectations. As a result, the French company is now looking for ways to improve its situation and increase the value of its intellectual properties.

A new report from Bloomberg (paywalled) has shared details about what the company might be planning. According to sources familiar with the matter, Ubisoft is considering creating a new entity that would include some of its biggest video game properties, like Assassin’s Creed.

Ubisoft Considers Selling Minority Stake and Approaches Potential Investors

The company is also considering selling a minority stake in this new business and has reached out to potential investors, including Tencent Holdings Ltd. (one of Ubisoft’s current shareholders) and investment funds in France and globally. According to Bloomberg’s sources, who wished to remain anonymous, Ubisoft is asking for preliminary offers to be submitted this month.

Founded by the Guillemot family, Ubisoft aims for a higher financial valuation for this new company than its main business. However, it’s important to note that no final decisions have been made yet, and things could change. This option would be an alternative to buying out Ubisoft’s shares alongside Tencent to make the company private.

A Ubisoft representative declined to comment on Bloomberg’s report but pointed to the company’s quarterly results, which confirm that Ubisoft is exploring several strategic and financial transformation options to add more value to its properties. In addition, Tencent also declined to comment.

In other news, an investor accuses Ubisoft of hiding information about potential acquisitions by companies like Microsoft and EA and is planning a protest in May, demanding action to increase the company’s value and transparency.

The only reason Star Wars Outlaws “failed” is because sheeple are sheeple. At least Outlaws somehow managed to survive longer than Anthem but that’s more likely due to being focused on being a single-player game. Outlaws is really damn good but people just can’t think for themselves and just regurgitate brainless garbage that their favorite “content creator” spits out.

Ubisoft has a disgusting business practice with their microtransactions but their games are damn good.

Nah, Outlaw’s was horrible. It failed on almost every level as a game.
