WB Games Montreal Working on New AAA Game Set in the DC Universe
Warner Bros. Montreal, the studio behind Batman: Arkham Origins and the more recent Gotham Knights, seems to be preparing for its next big project, as a recent job listing on their official website suggests they’re working on a new AAA game set in the DC universe.
According to a job listing, Warner Bros. Montreal is hiring a Senior Producer to oversee the entire development process, from concept to launch, for a new AAA title set in the DC Comics universe. The job description indicates the game is still in the early pre-production phase, signaling that more news may take time to emerge.
Adding to the excitement, recent rumors suggest Rocksteady may also be working on a new Batman game, with Sony allegedly looking to secure exclusivity. With WB Montreal previously working on the Batman Arkham franchise, it remains to be seen if their new project will align with Rocksteady’s potential title or if they could be working on something completely different within the DC Universe.
There have been past rumors about a Superman game, although this project was never officially confirmed. Given Warner Bros. Montreal’s history with Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights, it’s possible the new project could focus on Batman or other characters from the DC Universe. Gotham Knights, which featured characters like Batgirl and Robin, initially received mixed reviews, but has seen improved reviews on platforms like Steam.
The company’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League did not perform well, resulting in layoffs at the studio, and significant losses for Warner Bros. in the gaming sector. However, this hasn’t stopped WB Montreal from continuing its work on new projects in the DC Comics universe.
At this stage, it’s difficult to predict what exactly Warner Bros. Montreal is working on. The studio has a wide range of characters to choose from in the DC Universe, and it could even be a new Batman game or a project based on another hero.
Since the project is still in pre-production, it will likely be a while before Warner Bros. Montreal releases any teasers or trailers to give more details about the game. As we get more information, we will make sure to keep you guys informed here at MP1st.
