Developer Everstone has released the latest major update for Where Winds Meet and it’s called the Hexi Expansion Chapter 2!

The developers officially call this the “Liangzhou” update, with developer version 1.5. Console gamers will see this as Where Winds Meet update 1.023 (complete version 1.023.000).

There’s a lot to take in as this update adds the Heng Blade weapon, new bosses, new gameplay mechanics, and a lot more.

• Masterful Action Choreography: To authentically capture its lethal elegance, the combat animations were designed by Stephen Tung Wai, a seven-time winner of the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Action Choreography.
• Game-Changing “Deflect-and-Counter” Mechanism: The Heng Blade introduces a revolutionary “deflect-and-counter” combat mechanism. Moving away from passively dodging and waiting for openings, players can now actively parry incoming strikes, immediately execute powerful counter-attacks, and proactively interrupt a boss’s momentum to create their own windows of opportunity.

Liangzhou Update Highlights:

• Frontier Aesthetics & Dual Narratives: The new region’s artistic design draws from the ancient eastern poetic imagery of “grape wine in a night-glowing cup,” blending romantic aesthetics with the harsh reality of a fortified city. Players will unravel two distinct journeys- “Liangzhou Melody” and “Paper Moon”- revealing how conflicts alter the destinies of individuals amidst chaotic times.
• An Iron-Willed Sect: Players can now join “Raging Tides,” a new sect born from military service that emphasizes an iron-willed resolve on the battlefield, where comrades share life and death.
• Epic Boss Encounters: Adventurers will confront unique new bosses like the gracefully tragic Moongazing Maiden, the fiercely auspicious Everdeer, and the colossal guardian beast “Town Gate Roar” amidst the oppressive siege warfare of Dasan Pass.

First sight of Liangzhou, a refreshing frontier landscape. Beneath the rustling snow, a city shaped like a jade cup seems to stand in midair; crystalline wine bright as moonlight plunges down to form a jade pool of wine springs.

As the wind drifts to and fro, a rich, almost tangible aroma of wine floats in the air. Though it is still a realm where romance and reality intertwine, the atmosphere here is entirely different from Jade Gate Pass.

Beloved Liangzhou Poem captures the grandeur, bold spirit, and hidden perils of the frontier, exactly the backdrop of the new chapter.

Players who have completed Hexi Campaign – Whitecrown Fortress can accept Lost Chapter: Ten Through the Pass to unlock Liangzhou.

After collecting a certain number of Liangzhou poems, you can also claim rewards from Gilt-Fin Collection, including:

The sprightly, elusive deer, now hidden in mist, now inviting the worthy to roam at its side.

Reach Lv. 10 and meet any of the following requirements to join Raging Tides:

How to Get Promoted

Sect Status: Battle meets the brew here. Raging Tides disciples can rise from soldier to Lord of the Frontier Division General.

Players becoming the Division General can obtain the Berserker’s Vat for one week and summon all Raging Tides disciples to drink deep.

Disciple Test

Each day, wayward disciples face the Bound Feet Restriction, a trial of military order.

In certain Campaign Boss fights, using Goosy Slide may grant a chance to clear the campaign instantly.

Landlords (Wandering Paths Mode)

Participation Requirements

Reach Lv. 32 and complete Kaifeng Main Chapter: New Arrival in Kaifeng – Begin the Journey

Intro

Landlords, a new Wandering Paths mode, is a three-player card game.

The tycoon and other players face off in two camps, using card strategies and coordination with allies to compete. The side that runs out of cards first wins.

Switch to Online Mode and go to Kaifeng – Fairgrounds to exchange for chips and play cards.

Guild War – New Functions

Battlegroup Switch

Battlegroup Switch is available after the version update. After the settlement of each Guild War League round and before group display, the Guild Leader and Deputy Leaders can change the Battlegroup.

Doing so resets Ranked Match and League points, placing the guild in the Stealth Jester Group.

The first switch each season is free; subsequent ones cost 50,000 Guild Fund.
