Warframe’s “Jade Shadows” Single-Player Narrative Quest Out in June

During Digital Extremes’ Devstream 179, the studio revealed the first look at Warframe’s “Jade Shadows,” a cinematic update coming to all platforms this June. Not only does iot feature a new mission type in Clan Operation, but there’s also the 57th Warframe incoming named Jade.

Warframe’s “Jade Shadows” Info:

Releases in June

New mission type “Clan Operation”

Cosmetic bundles

Single-player Quest – Experience a story of love, loss, and sacrifice in Jade Shadows, introducing the latest single-player narrative Quest arriving this June welcoming the return of one of Warframe’s most infamous legacy characters, the Stalker. After the collapse of the Orokin Empire, he swore vengeance on the Warframes who destroyed it, eventually culminating in the first ever Cinematic Quest known as The Second Dream. Reconfront this ambivalent adversary to bring his long kept secrets to light since your last encounter together while discovering the 57th Warframe, the song of devastation, Jade.

The 57the Warframe “Jade” – Jade’s inspiration comes from the idea of “angelic choir soloists,” with her weapon designs embodying the ideas of Love, Hope, and Wonder, frequently found in classical choral arrangements. Jade Shadows will also introduce a new mission type, Ascension, a Stalker-themed ship cosmetic skin, even more TennoGen items, as well as a new Clan Operation: Belly of the Beast.

In addition to that, Digital Extremes also gave a close look at the Prime form of the ultimate protector Warframe, Protea! Check out the teaser trailer below.

“Representing the height of technology and style from a bygone era, Protea Prime brings a myriad of devices to toss grenade clusters, fire plasma charges, dispense health and energy pickups, or rewind time itself. Alongside Protea Prime come two new Prime tech weapons: the dual daggers Okina Prime and single-handed Velox Prime pistol, all arriving on May 1.”

Digital Extremes also gave a breakdown of what to expect in the first day of TennoCon 2042, which starts this June 19, as it will offer early access to the merch booth operations and badge pickup as well as a 1999-themed celebration (for Warframe 1999) with free food and a special guest DJ.

Speaking of TennoCon, the studio will discuss the next “bundle of info for 1999” at the event’s keynote livestream happening on July 20, 2024.

XDefiant Release Date “Coming Soon,” Devs Felt “Really Good” How Test Went and Lists 3 Biggest Learnings From It

After the XDefiant Server Test last weekend, some might be hoping we’ll be getting a release date announcement after it. While that hasn’t happened, it seems that’ll be changing soon, as Executive Producer Mark Rubin confirmed that the XDefiant release date is coming “very soon.”

This announcement was made over on Twitter/X, where Rubin also shared that the test went “really good” and the studio also listed the three main things they learned from it.

Just for reference, the three main issues the studio has learned from it include:

  1. Delta-1 errors. These may be one of the issues that was causing extra latency issues (i.e. getting shot around corners). So, this fix should improve the experience but by how much is to be determined.
  2. Health Bars (both over the player headers and in death cam) were updating later than actual damage giving the impression that your bullets weren’t doing damage.
  3. And lastly, we were not aggressive enough with our matchmaking when trying to find matches so people had higher pings than we would have wanted. This was partially fixed during the test so the last day of the test should have been better than previous days.

I have to admit, aside from the missing factions, the test went pretty well, I think. Of course, it was far from perfect, and we even discussed some of the issues we had with it after playing it for a few hours.

The main takeaway I have here is: the XDefiant release announcement seems to be around the corner, and I suspect the release announcement and actual launch will be close together. Hopefully, we’ll hear more about it this coming week.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite Update 1.40 Drops for Alien Day and Here’s What’s New

Cold Iron Studios has pushed out Aliens: Fireteam Elite update 1.40 (PS5 version 1.040) on Alien Day, and it brings forth some quality of life changes. Read on for the complete details.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite Update 1.40 Patch Notes:

Aliens Fireteam Elite PS5 Update Version 1.040

For those unaware, the original Alien film takes place on moon Acheron or otherwise known as LV-426. This means that 4/26 (April 26) is celebrated as Alien Day by fans.

As for what’s new in this patch, here’s what’s mentioned by Cold Iron:

  • In-game currency cap has been raised from 50,000 credits to 100,000 which means players can safely hoard and collect even more credits than before.
  • The studio states they know how frustrating it is to lose challenge cards when a mission fails or a host drops out. With this update, challenge card packs in SSGT Park’s shop are now free.

That’s about it. Don’t expect a lot of updates for the game, as Cold Iron has already announced that they have moved on from it to their new unannounced project.

In other Alien game news, Survios has announced a new single-player Alien game for VR titled Alien: Rogue Incursion and it’s headed to all VR platforms.

Mortal Kombat 1 Homelander Teaser Flies Out, Ed Boon Promises a “Lot More” Planned to Come to the Game

While NetherRealm Studios just recently released Ermac as a new playable character in Mortal Kombat 1, there’s a lot more content headed out, One of the pieces of new content include Homelander from The Boys Amazon TV show, which is something that we know based on the leak from last year.

Today, NetherRealm Studios boss Ed Boon has given us our first look at Homelande, and alongside it, promised a lot more content is on the way including new skins, new moves, kameos and more.

While there’s still no release date announced for when Homelander is landing down, chances are it’ll be sometime in May given we are already getting teasers for the new character. Based on the info revealed previously, it seems Homelander will be the last fighter completing Kombat Pack 1.

Expect a proper gameplay video for Homelander to be revealed before we get the DLC. While nothing has been announced just yet, some of the upcoming characters seem to include Conan the Barbarian, Ghostface and more based on datamined info from September of last year. Again, the info shared there has not been verified or debunked by NetherRealm, so treat it with a gran of salt for now.

Alien: Rogue Incursion Single-Player VR Game Announced for PSVR2, Meta Quest 3 and PCVR; Out Holiday 2024

Who wouldn’t want a new game based on the Aliens brand, right? For those who want to experience the terror as close as humanly possible, you’ll be able to fulfill that wish soon, as Alien: Rogue Incursion has been announced, and this is a single-player game set in the Aliens universe headed to virtual reality devices later this year.

In development by Survios and 20th Century Games, Alien: Rogue Incursion is confirmed for the PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2), Meta Quest 3, and PCVR (via Steam). Check out the announcement trailer below, though don’t expect gameplay from it.

Info from the press release:

Alien: Rogue Incursion fully immerses players in a harrowing VR journey deep into the Alien universe with an all-new storyline of an ultimate mission that tests their courage, wits, and skill to survive the terrors of the “Perfect Organism.”

That’s all the info available out there so far. Chances are, we’ll be getting a gameplay video soon, and let’s hope it delivers. There’s no release date set for the game aside from Holiday 2024.

As for the latest game based on the Aliens brand, we got Aliens: Dark Descent last year, which was an RTS (real-time strategy) game crafted by Tindalos Interactive. You can read our review of it here where we state, “Aliens: Dark Descent showcases care and respect for the works that it is based upon. This is the antithesis of a cash-grab – this is a game that tried to deliver something different, something exciting that isn’t a mere rerun of previous offerings.”

New Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Rewards and Map This Week April 26

Destiny‘s Trials of Osiris weekly PvP mode has returned this Friday with a new map and rewards. If you’re wondering about the current rotation, we’ve got you covered: MP1st’s new Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris rewards and map this week April 26, 2024 post lists down all that information in full below.

New Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Rewards This Week April 26, 2024:

Trials of Osiris Map:

Cauldron

Rewards:

  • Reputation Rank 4: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 7: Enhancement Prism (3)
  • Reputation Rank 10: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Reputation Rank 13: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 16: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Flawless Reward: Cataphract GL3 (Adept)

Reputation System, Trials Engrams, and Adept Farming

Win individual rounds within each match to gain Trials reputation. The amount of reputation you gain increases with each round you’ve won on your card. Earn enough reputation, and you’ll be able to claim a Trials Engram from Saint-14! This engram can be focused into any currently available trials loot you have previously obtained, or it can be taken to Master Rahool for a random Trials drop. Your reputation increases after every match completion, based on the number of round-wins on your card, regardless of the result of that match itself (win or lose, 0-5 or 5-4).

Once you have gone Flawless, keep playing! Every win you achieve while at the 7-win level, even if you lose your Flawless, has a chance to drop bonus Trials Engrams, adept weapons, prisms, and even Ascendant Shards. There is no penalty for losing once you’ve made it to the Lighthouse!

When you’re done, you can cash in your 7-win passage for one additional adept drop, granted you have gone Flawless that week. This resets your card so you can start anew.

Passages

Name Perk Cost
Passage of Persistence Losses following a win remove the win from the card. Reaching seven wins rewards the weekly Adept weapon. Reaching seven wins without having a win removed grants access to the Lighthouse. This passage cannot be used to focus Adept weapons. 1500 Glimmer
Passage of Ferocity Your third match win grants a bonus win. 1500 Glimmer
Passage of Mercy Forgives one loss per run. Forgives a second loss if you have not yet been flawless this week. 1500 Glimmer
Passage of Wealth Increased reputation from match wins on a ticket. 2500 Glimmer
Passage of Confidence Grants bonus rewards from Flawless Chest. 5000 Glimmer

What’s a Xûr?

Xûr, Agent of the Nine, is a strange vendor who randomly appears in a Public Sector on one of the Worlds. Xûr sells Exotic equipment and only takes Legendary Shards in exchange for them.

TL;DR: He’s the Santa Claus of Destiny and every weekend is Christmas. Sometimes he brings you what you want, sometimes he brings you coal. Mostly it’s coal.

When does Xûr visit?

Xûr visits every Friday at 17:00 UTC and departs at Weekly Reset (Tuesday 17:00 UTC). If you would like to see all the live conversions of Time Zones, please follow this link here.

BlizzCon 2024 Not Happening, Blizzard Excited to Bring It Back in Future Years

Those who are looking forward to attending this year’s BlizzCon, you’ll have to postpone that trip, as Blizzard has announced that “after careful consideration over the last year,” the company is not pushing through with BlizzCon 2024.

What Happened to BlizzCon 2024 and Will We See the Event in 2025?

In the announcement, Blizzard also states that they are “just as excited as ever to bring BlizzCon back in future years” though it isn’t a direct confirmation that we’ll be seeing BlizzCon back next year.

So, what do Blizzard fans have to look forward to this year? Here’s part of the announcement confirming that Blizzard will have a presence at this year’s gamescom and “other industry shows.”

“Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing more details about our launches coming later this year, including World of Warcraft: The War Within and Diablo IV’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred. To celebrate these upcoming releases and to bring our communities together in new and special ways, we will soon share some exciting plans for other industry trade shows and conventions like Gamescom. We can’t wait to tell you more about those plans soon. We’re also looking forward to the Overwatch Champions Series’ stops at both Dreamhack Dallas and Dreamhack Stockholm. And we’re thrilled to be planning multiple, global, in-person events to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Warcraft, which will be held in addition to the in-game celebrations across our Warcraft games throughout 2024. While these events are distinct from BlizzCon, we’re harnessing all of our creativity and imagination to ensure that they carry the same spirit of celebration and togetherness.”

This news comes after Overwatch 2’s big PvE content has reportedly been cancelled amid internal issues in the studio.

While Blizzard is still a force to be reckoned with in the gaming industry, it’s hard to argue against the fact that the studio isn’t as influential as it once was.

Will we see BlizzCon surface again in 2025? Let’s hope for the studio’s sake that it does.

Escape from Tarkov Unheard Edition Reneges on Promised Content Behind $250 Price Tag Sparking Community Outrage

Escape from Tarkov has seen a lot of success in the last few years. It’s so popular that it practically spawned the extraction shooter genre singlehandedly, and it still sits at the pinnacle of its field. Until today, that is: Battlestate Games has just unveiled the Escape from Tarkov Unheard Edition, a $250 USD package that includes exclusive access to the game’s PvE mode, causing the community to revolt against the developers for allegedly breaking earlier promises.

The outcries against the new Unheard Edition began earlier today with the release of Tarkov’s newest patch. The patch brought some minor changes to the game’s hit registration and armor penetration systems, but more significantly, it introduced the expensive new package with a whole heap of benefits, including the following:

  • Access to PvE co-op mode with persistent progression (Progression will not be reset with wipes)
  • Free access to all subsequent DLCs (Season pass)
  • Access to the Early Test Server (ETS)
  • Numerous other pieces of in-game upgrades and content

At first glance, these might seem like pretty nice features to have access to. However, the community quickly took up arms against the way the PvE co-op mode was being gated behind this new package. After all, Tarkov’s EOD Edition, which has been available for years now, also previous promised “free access to all subsequent DLCs,” leading people to believe it would allow them to experience the co-op mode when it finally released.

Needless to say, online Tarkov communities began voicing their discontent in droves. The several existing Tarkov subreddits are loaded with unhappy customers, and Twitter/X is seeing well-known Tarkov content creators and even Techland’s own Community Manager speak out against Battlestate’s latest decision:

The official Tarkov account responded to tweets by stating that “PvE mode is a unique feature which is available only for the owners of The Unheard Edition. We will keep you updated on new features exclusive for EOD owners.” They also removed the benefit line on the EOD Edition that promises access to all subsequent DLCs shortly after this began, which only made them look worse.

There’s an argument to be made that the PvE mode might not fall under the banner of “downloadable content,” and thus might not be inherently owed to those who purchased the EOD Edition. Still, if that were the case, it should have been made clear a long time ago that the EOD Edition wouldn’t grant access to such a mode. Countless users purchased that version of the game in hopes of being able to play co-op with their friends, and to have that suddenly stomped on and treated like no big deal by the development team is disheartening to see.

Hopefully, Battlestate Games will take a second to realize the error of their ways and make amendments. We’ll be sure to update readers once we hear an official response from the team.

TopSpin 2K25 Review – Serving Up a Nice Reboot

TopSpin has returned after well over a decade since TopSpin 4 came out two console generations ago in 2011. Hangar 13 has been tapped for development, under the 2K publishing arm. While there aren’t really any competing games in this space, TopSpin carries a certain gravitas as the cream of the simulation crop. The time has finally come to see if this is the return serve tennis fans the world over have been pining for, or if there’s just one fault too many in our TopSpin 2K25.

Hit the Court Running

TopSpin 2K25 drops you directly into a professional match. There’s not even a tutorial, perhaps in an effort to illustrate how intuitive the control scheme is. It’s a sped-up match, where you’re put into key moments of the match. It actually reminded me of MLB The Show’s Road to the Show. Suffice it to say, it was an impressive start. All of today’s best players, along with many classic legends, are available to play as, with many of their mannerisms as well.

Indeed, presentation-wise, TopSpin 2K25 ticks most of the boxes you’d expect in a tennis simulator. Courts are accurately captured, with a variety of materials to choose from based on their real-life counterparts. Character models for professional players are pretty good, although they do tend to venture into Uncanny Valley territory. You know pretty quickly who you’re looking at, but you can tell it’s not quite a 1:1 lookalike. This isn’t anything unique to TopSpin, either, but certainly it does show improvement compared to the last TopSpin game.

All sports games feature professional players, and TopSpin 2K25 delivers in this regard. For instance, the legendary John McEnroe features front and center in TopSpin 2K25’s tutorial area known as TopSpin Academy. Here, things start out simply enough with learning how to move and return the ball, but the advanced lessons have you switching sides to perform inside-out hits when the situation calls for it, to even more advanced lessons which teach when and how to use various play styles. Not all lessons are easy, either, with precise timing required, though at least you have unlimited tries to finish a level as Mr. McEnroe enourages you whether you succeed or fail at passing an objective.

Intuitive Controls

Control-wise, as the tutorial makes clear, TopSpin 2K25 is easy to pick up and play, but as with any sports game worth its entry fee, difficult to master. The face buttons perform shot types from basic returns to slices and lobs, while R2 performs the tricky but useful drop shot. As the player approaches the ball with the left stick, once they are withing hitting range the stick shifts automatically into aiming mode, which invisibly helps you to position your shot to influence the tennis ball’s trajectory. A timing bar floats above your player’s head at this time, and your goal is to tap the shot button when a moving cursor is in the green zone for a perfectly-executed shot, or close for a good shot. If you instead hold the shot button as the ball approaches, you can perform a power version of the shot you’ve selected. These are high-risk, high-reward versions of the shot type, and timing them right is often the key to winning a point.

You can’t just spam shots either, at least not on Normal difficulty or higher. Just like I wrote about during my preview of the game before, any time I found myself behind in a match, I simply needed to regroup, focus on my timing, and wait for the right moment to launch the right shot type for a given situation. Hitting a lob or drop shot and watching as my opponent  helplessly scrambled to the other side of the court, or simply stopped dead in their tracks as they had chosen the wrong way to run, was incredibly pleasing to pull off, and made me feel as if I somewhat understood just what the hell I was doing out there on the court. Keeping the staples of good tennis strategy in mind, such as returning to the baseline as quickly as possible, and paying attention to where my opponent was and what type of a hit they managed to send back in my direction became paramount, and it is a good challenge at Normal or higher, which with practice becomes manageable even on Hard or higher. No surprises here given TopSpin’s pedigree.

Grunts and Squeaks Galore

What was surprising on the PS5 version of TopSpin 2K25 was the inclusion of the DualSense controller speaker. It’s used to great effect to play the sound effects of your player’s sneakers squeaking on the court, the ball hitting the ground, racquets and/or the net, as well as your character’s grunts, which is a staple of tennis games. The audio is otherwise standard for the sports genre, featuring inoffensive music ranging from hip-hop and chill-hop to ambient tunes. Each court has a well-voiced PA announcer, and you can have them say your name if it is on the pre-set list of voiceover recordings. Outisde of that, though, there is no commentary during matches. While this feels like a rather large feature to be lacking in a sports title these days, it can somewhat be forgiven considering how long it has been since the last TopSpin game. Assuming 2K25 sells well enough, there is hope that at least some dynamic commentary can be added in the future.

The create a character mode known as MyCAREER has some familiar 2K-style progression, with the player tasked with bringing their custom character from being an unknown footnote to a legend who makes tennis history. This is accomplished by starting at the bottom rungs of the professional tennis world, and slowly working your way up. By hiring coaches and participating in various tournaments and special events, XP and VC (in-game currencty) can be earned. Leveling up awards you with attribute points to improve your character’s stats, such as serving, power, stamina, and more. While it’s nothing we haven’t seen before in a 2K sports game, it is nice to see if fairly comprehensively included in this franchise’s first entry in over a decade. Balancing energy needs with the grind needed to improve your ranking is rewarding, and the in-game podcast, while a little cringy from time to time, overall adds to the immersion of living the dream of coming up larger than life in the world of tennis.

Customization-wise, there is a good set of sliders to play with, but also a decent selection of preset character models if you don’t want to spend the time to craft a truly unique character. There are hundreds of different clothing options for both sexes, along with the surprising and awesome inclusion of a selection of prosthetic arms and legs to choose from. While you can purchase in-game currency, much like Dragon’s Dogma 2, it’s only to purchase things you can otherwise earn in the game, for those of you who are maybe working professionals or otherwise too busy to dedicate the time to grind out the free currency needed for the strictly cosmetic upgrades. It’s never in your face, either, so while microtransactions on a full-priced game is still par for the course, it’s at least not needed to enjoy the rest of the game.

Online Play Kind of an Unknown

There are of course online options, invluding custom tournaments and ranked matches, but naturally as the game has not yet released, the population of the servers was sparse except during a review-period slot 2K had set up to help get a feel for online. This will probably be the most varied experience many players will have with the game, owing to the unknown nature of competing against other human players, combined with network fluctuations, so your mileage may vary. There are seasonal challenges, though, which offer a more constistent experience.

TopSpin 2K25 is an excellent restart of a tenured franchise. While the graphics occasionally dip into Uncanny Valley territory, overall the presentation feels like developer Hangar 13 has paid attention to what makes for a great career mode, while balancing difficulty and accessibility to boot. What it lacks in game modes, it makes up for in game feel and challenge. If this is the start of another multi-year entries, then this bodes well for tennis fans as the series will no doubt be even more impressive in future iterations. If you count yourself amongst tennis fans, you owe it to yourself to check out TopSpin 2K25.

Score: 8/10

Pros:

  • A great return to a storied franchise
  • TopSpin Academy starts easy, and quickly ramps up to teach you things you can use
  • MyCAREER features a nice balance of challenge and fun

Cons:

  • Character models can approach Uncanny Valley territory
  • No audio commentary outside of an in-game podcast and each court’s PA system
  • Not a whole lot of game modes to choose from

  • Sped up the recovery of the short-term block meter.
    • This was a highly requested change, which aims to slow down the pace of the fights, by discouraging constant attempts at breaking the block and incentivizing attacking the body and legs more frequently.
  • Fixed an issue that could allow head movement to evade body uppercuts.
  • Sped up the execution of several strikes for higher weight classes, decreasing the speed difference between the heavier and lighter divisions.
    • In most cases, this means a 2-frame reduction for LW, WW, and MW; and a 4-frame reduction for LHW and HW.
    • For faster strikes, the difference between weight classes was already appropriately small. The affected strikes were the relatively slow ones, that had 30 frames or less in the faster weight classes:
      • Head:
        • 720 Spinning Kick
        • Axe Kick (Lead and Rear)
        • Cartwheel Kick
        • Crane Kick (Lead and Rear)
        • Double Flying Knee
        • Ducking Roundhouse
        • Flying Knee (Lead and Rear)
        • Handplant Kick
        • Hook Kick (Rear)
        • Jumping Roundhouse (Lead and Rear)
        • Jumping Switch Kick (Lead and Rear)
        • Question Mark Kick (Lead and Rear)
        • Rolling Thunder
        • Spinning Backfist (Lead)
        • Spinning Elbow (Lead)
        • Spinning Heel Kick (Lead and Rear)
        • Sprinting Flying Knee
        • Superman Elbow
        • Superman Punch (Lead and Rear)
      • Body:
        • Body Handplant Kick
        • Body Jumping Spinning Side Kick
        • Body Roundhouse (Lead and Rear)
        • Body Spinning Side Kick (Lead)
        • Body Thompson Roundhouse
        • Body Thompson Side Kick
      • Legs:
        • Thompson Leg Kick
  • Significantly sped up the retreating roundhouse kicks to the head, body, and legs, as well as the retreating calf kicks.
    • Although it was viable to use retreating roundhouse kicks within combos, they were extremely slow when used as single strikes. This change should make it more viable to use these kicks more safely when it is hard to create space for kicking.
  • Slowed down the retreating rear front kick to the head.
    • This technique was a little too fast for how safe and powerful it was.
  • Improved the Superman punch:
    • Increased the base damage of the lead Superman punch from 15 to 25.
    • Decreased the vulnerability of the lead Superman punch by 20%.
    • Increased the base damage of the rear Superman punch from 25 to 27.5.
  • Shifted some properties of the body switch kick.
    • Previously, the switch kick was too fast for its animation to play out properly. The beginning of the animation, the switch part, had to “be rushed”. We have significantly slowed it down, so the animation can look more realistic. As compensation, we have decreased its vulnerability and increased its damage. This makes it the most damaging body kick, along with the jumping spinning side kick to the body. It also targets the open and more vulnerable side of the torso, when fighters are in the same stance. Will you be able to time it well enough, however?
      • Increased the base damage from 20 to 22.5.
      • Decreased the vulnerability by 25%.
      • Significantly slowed down its execution (varying by weight class).

Grappling

  • Shifted some of the stamina cost on the ground game from short-term to long-term.
    • On the one hand, the short-term stamina felt too restricting on the ground game, discouraging exciting bursts of activity. On the other hand, rounds spent most on the ground game didn’t tax the long-term stamina enough. We therefore changed the costs as follows:
      • Decreased the short-term stamina costs by 10%.
        • This includes the drain rate from the struggle in submissions.
      • Increased the long-term stamina costs by 20 % (net 8%).
        • This means that the actual long-term cost of an action will be 8% higher than before these changes.
  • Fixed a rare unplayable state during an exchange from the over-under clinch.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed the dominant fighter in the cage single under clinch to punch the submissive fighter while they defend a knee (“Whizzer escape”).
  • Fixed an issue that prevented fighters from walking into the tower feet on hips position in practice mode.
  • Fixed a rare animation issue when performing a collar tie clinch entry against a ducking opponent.
  • Fixed a rare animation issue when performing a collar tie clinch entry from the side (after an evasion).

Misc. Additions and Updates

  • Updated the arms on Jailton Malhadinho’s character model
  • UFC Fighter requested name changes – Jailton Almeida to Jailton Malhadinho.
  • Career Mode Rankings Updated

EA isn’t done just yet, as the publisher promised 30 new fighters are entering the game leading up to June! So that means we still got a fair few left. You can read the game’s roadmap to know more about what’s incoming.

Warden:

– Shoulder Bash Followups
– All Shoulder Bash followups now gain Uninterruptible Stance at 100ms
– New unique animations for the following Shoulder Bash followups

– Side Light, including combo lights
– Heavy Attacks
– Zone Attack

*Dev comment: Warden’s Shoulder Bash is a strong tool in 1v1 situations but is difficult to use in group fight situations, especially when outnumbered, because the attack followups are slower than average but do not offer protection from opponent peel attempts. We are improving these attacks to gain Uninterruptible Stance to help protect Warden in these situations, and we have also changed their animations to make them fully distinguishable from their neutral attack counterparts, with the exception of the Top Light followup, which still gains Uninterruptible Stance but keeps its old animation in order to keep the Superior Block property. *

*Note that these attacks deal the same amount of damage and chain to other attacks at the same timing as before. *

Backstepping Superior Block Lights

– The following heroes’ neutral Light attacks can no longer be backstepped
– Warlord
– Valkyrie
– Kyoshin
– Afeera
– Black Prior
– Varangian
– Highlander

*Dev comment: Superior Block attacks are strong in that they let players counter attacks using Light attacks instead of attempting to Parry. On Live, they currently have an issue where players can use them to Option Select opponent attacks by backstepping – as they walk backwards, if the opponent’s attack is a Light Attack, the attack will be countered by the Superior Block, but if it is a Heavy attack the hero will move backwards enough to avoid the opponent’s attack. This change removes this ability to Option Select opponent attacks from neutral completely and should lower the effective power of these attacks. *

Shinobi:

  • Opener lights now deal 10 damage (down from 12)
  • Zone Attack 2nd hit now deals 4 damage (down from 6)
Dev comment: We had an issue where the previously announced damage changes to Shinobi’s Opener Lights did not end up going live. We have fixed the issue, so they now deal the correct amount of damage. We’re also adjusting the damage of the 2nd hit of Shinobi’s Zone Attack as part of this damage curve adjustments.

Hitokiri:

  • Heavy Openers now have a minimum Guardbreak Vulnerability of 433ms (up from 333ms)
Dev comment: Hitokiri has had an issue where the total Guardbreak Vulnerability of their Heavy Openers could be 333ms – the charge portion has 300ms of minimum charge, and the strike portion only had 33ms of Guardbreak Vulnerability. The strike portion of the attack now has 133ms of Guardbreak Vulnerability. With this change, the minimum duration of Guardbreak Vulnerability is 433ms (300ms during the charge portion, then 133ms during the strike portion).

Orochi

  • Zone Attack now deals 11 damage (down from 14)
  • Side Heavy Finishers now deal 28 damage (down from 30)
  • Storm Rush now deals 17 damage (down from 20)
Dev comment: Orochi’s damage curve is above normal, especially with their Zone Attack and Side Heavy Finishers. We are lowering their damage to bring them closer in line with the rest of the cast. In addition, Storm Rush was buffed when we removed the combo lights from the attack, but this proved to be too strong for the hero, so we are lowering the damage it causes as well.

Berserker

  • Top Heavy Opener now deals 28 damage (down from 29)
  • Top Heavy Finisher now deals 30 damage (down from 31)
  • Side Heavy Finishers now deal 32 damage (down from 34)
  • Side Dodge Lights now deal 13 damage (down from 15)
Dev comment: Berserker has been overperforming at some levels of play, partially due to his damage curve, which is above normal. We are therefore slightly lowering the damage values, and will keep an eye on the hero as things progress to see where they end up.

Afeera

  • Top Heavy after melee attacks now deals 16 damage (down from 18)
  • Right Heavy after melee attacks now deals 16 damage (down from 18)
Dev comment: Afeera’s Heavy Parry punishes deal above average damage at 18. We are lowering the damage of these two moves to 16 to ensure that her damage curve is better aligned with the rest of the cast. Note that it is still slightly above average due to the extra Stamina cost that is incurred for these specific punishes that require the use of Knockout Punch.

Varangian

– Hjaldr Oathkeeper now attack in the correct stance when Superior Blocking (was always Left stance)
– Opener and Finisher Lights can no longer have their Superior Block followup be target swapped
– Can now throw diagonally
– Adjusted wallsplat and ledge windows of opportunity to be earlier in the throw victim’s reactions to allow for more consistent wallsplat and ledging

ECO MODE

– Added an ECO Mode on Current Gen Consoles.

Dev Comment: On Current Gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series S & X), a new Graphic Settings is added to enable an ECO Mode to save energy by reducing framerate, resolution, and graphic upgrades. Four modes are offered: Off, Minimal that activates only in the menus, Smart that activates after 2 minutes of idle time and Full that activates at all times. In the menus only, an ECO Mode icon will appear when it’s activated.

BUG FIXES

– [Bug Fix] Fixed an issue with Eagle Companion that make the eagle appear too black on podium screen when night map weather is selected.
