Exodus Reveal Trailer Starring Matthew McMconaughey Shoots Out

An Exodus reveal trailer has just dropped at The Game Awards. The game stars award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey and features third-person shooting action.

The game’s trailer is available here:

Here’s what the game’s press release says about the gameplay:

“The debut game from legendary RPG creator James Ohlen’s new studio is a next-generation, story-driven RPG that marries cinematic storytelling with deep emotional impact featuring broad player agency and modern AAA gameplay. The story is fueled by the consequences of player choices due to the impact of Time Dilation, and how they change the lives of those we love most.

In EXODUS, humanity has fled a dying Earth, finding a new home in a hostile galaxy – here, we are the underdogs fighting for survival. As The Traveler, you are humanity’s last hope. Your job is to steal alien weapons and technology from the most powerful beings in the universe, the Celestials – humanity’s greatest enemy. But there’s a catch – Time Dilation. As Travelers on interstellar missions, days for you are decades back home. The sacrifices you make to protect your loved ones create unpredictable consequences that change your world — reshaping the future. Returning home, you confront the consequences of your choices. In Exodus, the outcome of those choices manifests at a massive level, compounding over generations.”

Exodus is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

God of War Ragnarok Valhalla Announced, Free DLC Out December 12

PlayStation and Santa Monica Studios have announced God of War Ragnarok Valhalla, a free DLC arriving next week.

God of War Ragnarok Valhalla Trailer

About the DLC (via PS Blog)

“God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla will be an epilogue to the events of God of War Ragnarök that follows Kratos on a deeply personal and reflective journey.

Set after the decisive battle against Odin and Atreus’ departure, Kratos has seen a path for himself that he never thought possible before. Brought to the mysterious shores of Valhalla accompanied only by Mimir, Kratos will enter its unknown depths to overcome trials within himself and face echoes of his past.

God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla has five difficulty settings that have been specially crafted and tuned to the unique gameplay of the DLC. Each difficulty setting increases the rewards you’ll gain from battle, and you can swap freely among them between attempts (including to and from the highest difficulty setting, Show Me Mastery).

As your skills grow, we encourage you to try out some of the higher difficulties to earn more rewards and test your mastery over Kratos’ arsenal!

Between the five options, you will be able to select the level of challenge that is most fun for you. To help further customize your gameplay experience, the DLC will continue God of War Ragnarök’s standard for accessibility settings.”

Even though it was rumored, this is a rather big surprise! And the best thing is that it’s out next week!

Lords of the Fallen Update 1.021 Patch Notes | LOTF Update 1.1.379 Patch Notes:

Highlights:

  • Autosave Stutter Fix – While it took a little longer than expected, due to the complexity of the issue, we’re delighted to say we’ve applied a fix for the stuttering issue that some players with larger saves experienced during autosaving.
If you encounter any issues related to this fix, or saved games, please reach out to our support team at support@cigames.com
  • Radiant Ending Blocker Fix – Players who were locked out of Bramis Castle will now be able to properly advance with the Radiant ending questline. A huge thanks goes out to BlackDraft who sent his save game that helped us resolve this issue much quicker.
  • End Game Boss Improvements – Based on our most recent telemetry, we saw that end game bosses were not as challenging as anticipated. Due to those findings, we’ve adjusted their behaviors slightly to put up a better fight.
  • Multiplayer Experience Improvements – We improved several functionalities and added new quality of life features to enhance the overall multiplayer experience. Upon popular demand, we’ve added a small glowing indicator to make it easier to spot your partner’s position when they are out of sight during co-op play. Invasion areas have received a redesign resulting in less disconnects when attempting to invade players. Lastly, the Vestige menu now offers new options for more convenient interaction.
Multiplayer
  • Crimson Rituals have received a small rework, which should improve matchmaking connectivity by avoiding disconnects before a matchup starts.
  • Players targeted by a Crimson Ritual will no longer be able to exit to the Main Menu while the ritual is active.
  • Players targeted by a Crimson Ritual will no longer be able to interact with vendors or vestiges while the ritual is active.
  • Moth walls related to Crimson Rituals will automatically vanish after a set amount of time in the case the ritual never starts.
  • Coop partners will now receive additional Crimson Ritual notifications for better clarity.
  • Redesigned Crimson Ritual areas to be more graceful across the whole game world.
  • Fixed an issue where a coop partner could immediately die after being teleported to a host standing on an Umbral platform in Axiom.
  • Fixed an issue related to cooperative multiplayer where the client could be teleported to the host unexpectedly even after being teleported to the host at the beginning of a boss encounter.
  • Fixed an issue where the client’s resources and buffs could reset after a teleport to the host.
Performance

Battlefield 2042 Season 7 Announced in the Most Festive of Ways, “Maps” Teased by DICE

After an obscure tease for a new season of Battlefield 2042 by one of DICE’s developers, the studio officially confirmed BF2042 Season 7 in a new announcement that fits the holiday season.

Over on X (Twitter), Ryan McArthur, Senior Producer at DICE, went on camera in a Santa costume with a lot of 7’s shown. When I say a lot, I mean A LOT! The tree ornaments have a 7 painted on them, the mug has a 7 and so on.

If you listen until the end, you will hear someone say, “Hey, Ryan, mate! You’re supposed to be in the Season 7 mapS playtest.” Yes, maps! As in more than one!

In addition to that, it seems that one of the new maps for Season 7 just might be based in South America if the maps lying around are anything to go by.

Screenshot

Also of note, we are not guaranteeing that there will be more than one map in Season 7, as we’re just going off on what we heard in the short video.

Hopefully, we’ll hear more about Season 7 in early January and DICE doesn’t make us wait weeks or months before releasing info about it.

Following Season 6’s massive success, if DICE can pull off more than one new map in the new season, there’s no reason why we can’t see the same level of players jump into the game again.

Jagged Alliance 3 Update 1.04 Released This Dec. 7 for Crashes

Haemimont Games has begun rolling out Jagged Alliance 3 update 1.04 on consoles, which addresses recent console crashes. Read up on what’s included in today’s Jagged Alliance 3 update.

Jagged Alliance 3 Update 1.04 Patch Notes | Jagged Alliance 3 December 7 Patch Notes

According to Haeminmont Games, this patch addresses crashes on consoles.

“We have released a small patch to fix the random crashes some players are experiencing on consoles.”

That’s all that’s known for this update, though if you are interested in learning what is coming in the future, below is a “patch roadmap” detailing some of the upcoming updates.

Update 1.4 – Codename: Wolf (Sat View Quality of Life)

03-SatViewStash.thumb.jpg.e609861502e4c6dbc75b62506c2846ac.jpg
The next update focuses on improvements in the Sat View. It will enhance the Sector stash and the Conflict Screen interfaces. Both of these screens are currently somewhat confusing and we are looking into ways of organizing the information there in a more convenient way.

As part of this update we will enhance and rebalance some of the Sat View operations, such as Scouting. Finally, we are going to offer a way for solitary mercs to improve their stats by practicing without a trainer.

Update 1.5 – Codename: Larry (Modding Maps and Campaigns)

04-ModdingQuests.thumb.jpg.ef8c2baffb9b1f2b858aa7ebf45688ce.jpg

As we’ve talked before, our second modding update will offer powerful tools such as map and quest editors. The map editor will allow modifying existing maps by adding new objects and quests or creating entirely new maps from scratch. These maps can be added seamlessly into the existing game campaign or used to create an entirely new custom campaign, complete with new quests, NPCs, dialogues and interactions.

This will open the door for modding projects of massive scope such as recreating the old Jagged Alliance games in Jagged Alliance 3!

Update 1.4 is the next major update that is dropping, which should hopefully be soon. And in case you haven’t already, be sure to read our Jagged Alliance 3 review now!

Alone in the Dark Delayed Once Again to March 20, 2024

Following a recent delay to January, Alone in the Dark has once again been delayed to March of next year. This news was delivered in a letter to the audience from publisher THQ Nordic.

The full letter contents can be read below:

The year is coming to an end, and the Christmas Holidays are upon us. However, until today, it didn’t seem that way for Pieces Interactive, the team developing our upcoming survival-horror game, Alone in the Dark. With our initially planned release date in January 2024, the Christmas season would have been filled with stress and anything but a jolly time for them.

Therefore, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive have decided to give Alone in the Dark a new release date: March 20th, 2024.

The well-being of the teams is a top priority, and both companies want to avoid any potential crunch over the Christmas holidays. Furthermore, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive want to ensure that the game not only meets but exceeds the expectations of the community, especially with the outstanding performances of Hollywood stars David and Jodie as the main protagonists.

We understand that many people are eagerly awaiting the release, but your patience will be rewarded. We are thrilled to scare the living daylights out of you on March 20th, 2024!

Avoiding crunch is always a good idea, especially around the holidays. While it’s a bummer that those excited for this reboot will have to wait a little longer to play, it’s much healthier for the developers to wait. Hopefully this will give them the ample time they need to deliver a quality product.

If you’re unfamiliar with the previous Alone in the Dark titles, don’t worry: the studio’s already confirmed you won’t need to have played them to enjoy this entry.

Alone in the Dark launches on March 20, 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

  • Fixed a subtle animation issue with lead body crane kick animation.
  • Fixed an issue in practice mode where gameplay would start a little before the fighters would appear on screen.
  • Fixed an issue where the fighters would appear on the wrong sides in practice mode. The “red corner” fighter would be on the right-hand side of the screen instead of the left.
  • Fixed wrong input displays for some spinning kicks.

Grappling

  • Increased how much the takedown denial window can vary, especially due to Grapple Advantage (GA). Takedowns that are set up well, which are common at a higher level of play, will now be harder to deny, whereas poorly set-up ones, common at a beginner level, will be easier. Since the GA is now taken much more into account, we have decreased how much of it is conceded by holding high block.
  • The Muscle Modifier can now be used for several additional transitions. There are instances where the opponent could deny transitions too easily. Using the Muscle Modifier (performing the transition while holding R1/RB) will make the transition much faster but at a higher stamina cost. This will assist against stalling tactics. The additional transitions that allow the use of the Muscle Modifier are:
    • Basic transitions from bottom side control
    • Basic transitions from bottom crucifix
    • Basic transitions from top sprawl (to backside)
  • The stamina cost for using the Muscle Modifier has been halved.
  • Decreased the damage dealt by ground strikes from side control and the crucifix position by 25%.
  • Fixed an issue where the top fighter’s Grapple HUD could indirectly reveal the actions of the fighter on the bottom while in full mount. This issue previously made denials easier than they should be.
  • Fixed a temporary unplayable state that occurs if an upkick is thrown after a flying armbar denial.
  • Fixed a camera issue that occurred during the ground game after the bodylock trip from a double-leg drive.
  • Fixed a camera issue that occurred during the ground game after a guillotine reversal against a driving takedown.
  • Fixed a camera issue that occurred during the ground game after performing a denial from a sprawl.
  • Fixed a camera issue that occurred during the ground game after a pull-guard sweep.
  • Fixed a camera issue when starting in Practice Mode.
  • Fixed an issue preventing time spent in submissions from counting for dominance in judges’ scoring. Submission entries and forcing desperate escapes were already working properly. Only spending time in a submission, which is a smaller factor in scoring, wasn’t being counted.
  • Fixed a brief animation issue during a rear naked choke reversal against a low single leg.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed fighters to force a stalemate if they tried to perform a rear naked choke reversal against a low single leg without having access to the move.
  • Fixed an animation issue when fighters would initiate a bicep control block from a single underhook while standing against the cage.
  • Fixed a minor animation issue that occurred during a double leg denial that transitions into the single underhook position.
  • Added a control visual for the Imanari Roll in the moves preview.
  • Fixed some very rare occurrences of delayed referee interactions.
  • Fixed issues that affect the moves preview for the kimura.
  • Fixed an issue that affected the moves preview for the armbar.

AI

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the AI from performing an arm triangle from full mount.
  • Increased the frequency of turning takedown attempts from the AI.
  • Granted the AI the ability to fake during submission battles. The AI will now have a chance to turn things around when the opponent has the stamina lead and is combining the Struggle mechanic with good denials.
  • On the higher AI difficulty settings, the AI’s skill and timing used to defend leg kicks has been improved.
  • On the higher AI difficulty settings, the AI will tend to throw more punches during the ground and pound combos, before finishing with elbows and it will also now choose not to use an elbow as frequently when throwing a combo. The frequent and fairly early use of elbows was being reported as too easy to counter before this adjustment.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed the AI for Mike Tyson to perform takedowns.
  • Fixed an issue with the judges scoring in extremely inactive fights. For example, the type of fight that would probably only occur when “labbing”.

Online Adjustments

  • Online Career Mode:
    • Reduced the cost of unlocking moves.
    • Increased maximum prestige to 20.
    • The opponent’s HUD will no longer be hidden in higher-division matches
    • Fixed an issue where the single and double leg takedowns were not gaining EXP if they were performed during an Online Career match.
    • Fixed an issue that occasionally caused significant input delay after a Health Event occurred.
  • Ranked Online Mode:
    • The opponent’s HUD will no longer be hidden in any division matches.
    • Improvements to the matchmaking will make it easier to find matches in the higher divisions
    • Fixed an exploit where players could cause an automatic loss for their opponent.
    • Fixed an issue that occasionally caused significant input delay after a Health Event occurred.

MENU ADJUSTMENTS AND MISC. FIXES

Menu Adjustments

  • A “More Offers” tab has been added to the Store menu to showcase certain offers permanently.
  • The Store main menu now displays a dot badge when the store receives any major updates.
  • The Punch Card can now be accessed directly from the main menu

Misc. Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where when a button is held to skip to the end of the fight replay, the replay would be seen from a distorted camera angle.
  • Fixed an issue where VRR was causing input lag.
  • Fixed several rare occurring crashes.
  • Fixed the issues that would occasionally cause the game to hang while switching between the different menus.
  • Several small updates to some of the UFC fighter appearances/likenesses.
  • Various minor bug fixes and improvements.

In addition to today’s patch, the dev team also shared that they are listening to community feedback, and are currently looking into the following gameplay areas: stamina drain from body strikes, stamina recovery between rounds, strikes tracking against ducking, grapple advantage, and the speed of some ground game transitions.

New Alter Egos will be added next week as well, which might come in the form of a patch too. Once it’s live, we’ll let our readers know.
