Square Enix has released (Final Fantasy XVI) Final Fantasy 16 update 1.002.001, which adds support for the first DLC, Echoes of the Fallen. Read on for what’s new in the FF16 patch notes for December 7 (December 8 for those outside the US).

Final Fantasy 16 Update 1.002.001 Patch Notes | FFXVI December 7 Update Patch Notes:

Size: 10.75GB

Update: Complete patch notes have been released and this is a big one!

We announce the release of update 1.21, which makes a number of changes and improvements to the game. The update also allows for the purchase and installation of the DLC package Echoes of the Fallen.

Echoes of the Fallen is an all-new story chapter in which Clive and his allies lead an investigation into strange, shadowy crystals that have recently appeared on the black market. The package features not only a new storyline, but also a new replayable stage, new equipment, an increased level cap, and more.

Version 1.21

This update is available for all users, and makes the following changes:

Additional Features

  • Adds a new Inner Voice option to the Grand Cast menu, which can be viewed upon inquiring with Vivian about the State of the Realm. Hover the cursor over a character and press the touchpad to view their inner feelings toward their allies and enemies. See how each character’s feelings change as the story progresses.
  • Adds several new orchestrion rolls.
These can be obtained from in-game vendors after progressing a certain way through the story.

  • Introduces a new leaderboard.
All scores earned after the update is installed will be recorded to this new leaderboard.
  • Allows you to view leaderboards and rankings from previous versions.
  • Adjusts the difficulty level of Ultimaniac stages.
  • Adds and adjusts explanations of various features.

Changes to Arcade Mode

  • Adds a technical bonus feature that increases battle performance scores. Attacking enemies and performing a variety of battle techniques fills the technical bonus gauge, which increases your score multiplier each time it crosses a certain threshold. The gauge depletes over time or upon taking damage.

  • Adds new accolades.
These can be earned by clearing stages within a certain time limit or with a final battle performance score above a certain threshold.
  • Adjusts ranking thresholds over individual legs and stages.
The changes described above allow players to earn higher battle performance scores than they could previously. The ranking thresholds are adjusted to account for this.

Changes to Training Mode

  • Adds an Immediate Takedown option.
With this option turned on, attacks will reduce an enemy’s will gauge by 50%, allowing you to partially stagger enemies with a single attack, then fully stagger them with a second attack.
  • Adds a Megaflare Level option.
This option allows you to fix your Megaflare level to any value.
  • Adds a Zantetsuken Level option.
This option allows you to fix your Zantetsuken level to any value.

System-related Changes

  • Adds a Photo Mode shortcut option.
This option, accessible from the Game Settings tab of the System menu, allows you to launch Photo Mode by pressing the touchpad with two fingers.
  • Adds the ability to enter Photo Mode from the pause screen.
This allows photos to be taken during cutscenes, with certain exceptions.
  • Adds the option to retry from the Game Over screen when Clive is defeated by a notorious mark.
Retrying will return Clive to the point immediately before the battle with the notorious mark began.
  • Allows you to examine the details of the rewards available from the Patron’s Whisper in the hideaway.
  • Adds the option to filter save data in the Load Game tab of the System menu. Press to cycle between the following filtering options: Show All Saves, Show Auto-saves, and Show Manual Saves.

Exoborne Announced by Blood Hunt Devs, Trailer and First Details of Extraction Shooter Revealed

Exoborne was just announced at The Game Awards, and it’s coming from Sharkmob, the studio behind Vampire: The Masquerade Blood Hunt. The game is a tactical open world extraction shooter set in the future.

You can view the game’s reveal trailer here:

Here’s a brief description of the game from Sharkmob’s own website:

Gear up for Exoborne, tactical open world extraction shooter set in an apocalyptic U.S.

You are a Reborn. Scavenge, craft, and fight your way across an open world ravaged by extreme forces of nature and populated by warring factions. Your Exo-Rig significantly improves your ability to survive this chaos. Choose a rig to match your preferred play style, whether that’s defensive, stealthy, or guns-blazing. Exo-Rig abilities synergize with the forces of nature at work in the world; ride a storm in and out of the fight or harness the lightning and hurl it down on your enemies.

Your goal is simple: bring back more than you lose. Load up, drop in, and live to tell the tale. Use the spoils looted during missions to craft and customize your gear, giving you the edge for the next time you head out. In this living world, we survive together or die alone. Although you are free to strike out on your own, it’s better to team up and think smart.

New to this madness? Don’t sweat it. You’ll have time to catch your breath before tackling the biggest challenges. Veteran of the dropship? Get that headshot while flying around in a tornado. Every session will be as satisfying as it is unique.

Lightspeed LA’s General Manager Steve C. Martin also had this to say about Exoborne in the game’s press release:

Last Sentinel is our massively ambitious debut title and showcases the Lightspeed LA vision to prioritize the player’s experience and immersion above all else. Lightspeed LA is laser focused on a developer-led approach that fosters creativity and delivers original, interactive narrative art while leveraging our ample resources, extensive experience, and state-of-the-art facilities to build the richest and most rewarding experiences for our players.

The Lightspeed LA team is a global development group filled with deep experience and expertise that includes work on AAA, leading titles like The Last of Us, Jedi: Fallen Order, Uncharted, Grand Theft Auto and God of War.

Monster Hunter Wilds Announced for 2025: Mounted Gameplay and More Revealed

Monster Hunter Wilds was just announced for 2025 at this year’s Game Awards. The game will feature a heavy emphasis on mounted exploration, and it looks to build upon the foundations of the last few games.

You can check out the reveal trailer here:

From what we can see in the trailer, the game’s maps seem significantly larger than they have been in the past, and they feature an impressive number of creatures on-screen in comparison to previous entries. There’s also a good chunk of mounted exploration and platforming, which we’re enthusiastic to try.

Additionally, the game will be releasing on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, meaning this is the first time Monster Hunter is leaving last-gen consoles. Hopefully, this will mean a significant step-up in graphics, similar to what we saw with Monster Hunter World.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches sometime in 2025. We’ll be sure to let our readers know when we have more information.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Release Shadow Dropped Today, as Game Wins GOTY at The Game Awards

Just a few weeks ago, Larian Studios has mentioned how the Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox version release date will be announced at The Game Awards. Well, the show is over, and not only did we get a date, but the studio has shadow dropped the RPG, as it’s available now!

This was announced on Twitter (X), just when the show ended:

It’s quite a special day for Larian Studios, as Baldur’s Gate 3 not only is out on Xbox Series X|S today, but the RPG managed to fend off big games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and more to be The Game Awards 2023’s Game of the Year winner!

BG3 snagged a total of six awards for the night, which is no small feat!

Lastly, the studio also released hotfix 13 for the game, which you can read about here.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is one special game indeed. For those who own an Xbox thinking of getting the game, go read our review where we state, “If you can only purchase a single game for a couple of years because budget is tight, Baldur’s Gate 3 should be the one. The amount of content and the sheer quality in display almost makes it feel like a steal, a game that grows on you and eats the hours away, invading your dreams and making you count the time until you return to it. This is the game of the year, maybe more than that.”

Congrats, Larian, to a well-deserved win!

GTFO Final Edition Announced With Its Final Chapter

Seven years ago, 10 Chambers Collective took to the stage of one of gaming’s grandest events, The Game Awards, to announce their debut title, GTFO. It was amongst the highlights of announced titles, and since then, the studio has been actively supporting the game with updates and new expansions. Well, that journey has come full circle, as 10 Chamber Games finds themselves yet again at The Game Awards, announcing the final chapter in the GTFO story with a new Final Edition.

GTFO Final Edition Trailer – Rundown 8.0: Duality Update

Studio founders Ulf Andersson and Simon Viklund had some heartfelt words to share about their time on the project.

“The GTFO story began at The Game Awards when the game was revealed back in 2017, so of course, we felt that it was right to also announce the final chapter at this year’s show,” said Ulf Andersson, 10 Chambers founder and creative director. “It’s important to note that while the story of GTFO comes to a close, the game will continue to be alive and kicking. Whether you’re a new player or part of the existing GTFO community, the full game with four years worth of content is available to complete from start to finish — if you and your squad are up for the challenge, that is.”

“It feels bittersweet to move on from the world of GTFO after living in it for seven years, but it was time to stretch our creative muscles and start something new,” said Simon Viklund, 10 Chambers co-founder and narrative and audio director. “A considerable amount of work was put into the narrative and level design for the conclusion of GTFO’s story arc, and we hope that our community will find it satisfying.”

The new update is now available for GTFO and the GTFO Final Edition on Steam.

It’s poetic that the game’s final chapter would be revealed where it all started. However, don’t take this as a goodbye, as the studio also had one more surprise awaiting fans, as they’ve also announced a new heist IP, Dens of Wolves.

Dens of Wolves Announced From the Creator of the Payday Franchise

10 Chambers Collective and its founders, Ulf Andersson, and Simon Viklund, have big plans for the co-operative heist genre, as their newest game, Dens of Wolves has been announced, and it’s more than your traditional bank heist game.

As revealed during The Games Awards, below you’ll find the Dens of Wolves trailer and some words from Ulf Anderson and Simon Viklund on the new heist project. MP1st was part of an early presentation where the title was announced along with a bit more info.

Dens of Wolves Announcement Trailer:

While Ulf Anderson is best known for being one of the creators of the Payday franchise, fans should expect Dens of Wolves to be more than just your traditional bank-robbing game, as the new setting gives the team even more freedom to go beyond.

“Having worked on heist games in the past which channeled classic bank robbery themes, we wanted to take Den of Wolves in an exciting new direction that allows us to elevate what a heist can be,” said Ulf Andersson, 10 Chambers founder and creative director. “You can only rob so many banks. Den of Wolves’ sci-fi themes and gameplay elements gave us the freedom to offer more variety in heists — incorporating corporate espionage, sabotage, and assassinations.”

Players will journey into Midway City, the new capital of capitalism that was established in response to the ever-growing power of AI. Run by megacorporations, Midway City offers salvation to those seeking a world with no laws or ethical standards.

With free reign in Midway City, corporations heavily invested in unregulated technological innovations designed, first and foremost, to protect their capital. Thus, an entirely new data transmission and storage concept based on the biological intricacies of the human brain was born. Impervious to AI, neurological data security became a dominant technology that stabilized the world economy. With new security protections in place, corporations turned to a society of outcasts in the city’s underbelly to infiltrate rivals’ minds and extract high-value data — forever redefining corporate warfare.”

“We value the art of worldbuilding enormously, so even though Den of Wolves isn’t an open-world game, the history and narrative we’ve built around Midway City is considerable. We want Midway to feel like a believable city of the near future where late-stage capitalism has gone rampant, and corporations set the rules,” said Simon Viklund, 10 Chambers co-founder and narrative and audio director. “As a player, you reside in Midway City’s underground domains without any real identity or documentation, building your allegiances to become a criminal entrepreneur through its black market of gig jobs.”

As of now, it is currently targeting a PC release. No exact date has been revealed, though it is available for wishlist on Steam. The official website should be open, too, for those wanting to learn more about the project.

Stay tuned for more information on the game, including first impressions and an exclusive interview with 10 Chamber Games.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Offline Story Mode Announced, Arriving in Post-Launch Update in 2024

Rocksteady has just debuted a new trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which focuses on the brainiac-turned Justice League members that the Suicide Squad have to kill (thus the game’s name). However, this wasn’t the only news to come out for the game, as Rocksteady has also announced that an offline mode is coming to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League sometime in 2024.

As revealed on the game’s official Discord, the always-online experience has now been confirmed to be getting an offline mode that’ll let players play the entire campaign without any internet connection.

“In addition to our latest trailer, we also have some news to share. We’re happy to confirm, we are planning to add an offline story mode that will give players the option to experience the main campaign without an internet connection. We’re aiming to add this update in 2024 and will provide more details when available.” A Rocksteady employee announced on the Discord server.

Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League Offline Story Mode

From how it’s worded, this will come after the game is released rather than at launch, though hopefully not too far after.

Regardless, this is fantastic news, as while the GAAS elements for the game are very clear, Rocksteady has also been vocal about it being a narrative-driven experience. So, the always-online connection for Suicide Squad was something that didn’t sit too well with many. Especially if the servers were ever to go down, it would lock players out from experiencing the game despite playing solo.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches worldwide on Feb. 2, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store).

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Game Awards Trailer Calls for No More Heroes

The newest Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League trailer showed at The Game Awards has given us a closer look at the game’s main antagonists ahead of its February release.

Here’s the new trailer:

The trailer gives us a closer look at Batman, Green Lantern, The Flash, and Superman, and gives us a hefty look at story content for the upcoming action game. We also get a good look at more gameplay, though at this point we’ve seen lots of it.

We’ve seen several character trailers for the Suicide Squad themselves, so it’s cool to get a closer look at the other side of the battlefield. We hope the storytelling lives up to Rocksteady’s previous titles.

About The Game:

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, is a genre-defying, action-adventure third-person shooter from Rocksteady Studios, creators of the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham series.

Featuring an original narrative set within an expansive open-world city of Metropolis, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League puts the four DC Super-Villains on a collision course with an invading alien force and DC Super Heroes who are now laser-focused on destroying the city they once vowed to protect. All the while, the Suicide Squad must be mindful of the lethal explosives implanted in their heads that could go off at the first sign of defiance.

Each squad member has their own unique moveset with enhanced traversal abilities to freely explore the dynamic open-world of Metropolis, along with a variety of weapons to customize, and skills to master.

Take down The Justice League yourself in single-player or team up with friends in multiplayer co-op.

Don’t be a hero.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League releases on February 2, 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

New Marvel’s Blade Game Announced, Project Led By Arkane Studios

It’s official: Xbox finally has its own Marvel superhero! Half-human, half-vampire, 100% badass. Oh, that’s right, a Marvel’s Blade game has been announced for Xbox, and Arkane Studios is developing it.

Marvel’s Blade Game Announcement Trailer:

In Marvel’s Blade, Eric Brooks is the legendary Daywalker, half-man, half-vampire torn between the warm society of the living and the rushing power of the undead. From Bethesda and Arkane Lyon, the studio that brought you Dishonored and “DEATHLOOP”, Marvel’s Blade is a mature, single-player, third-person game set in the heart of Paris, now in development in collaboration with Marvel Games.

I didn’t see this announcement coming, as I assume a lot of people as well.

The game will be led by Arkane Studios (Lyon), the developers behind the beloved Dishonored franchise and Death Loop. Not to get them confused with Red Fall, which Arkane Austin developed. Though they share a similar name, both studios are located in different parts of the world, with an entirely different team.

Blade was created by writers Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan, and saw his first appearance in 1973 as a supporting character in Marvel Comics’ The Tomb of Dracula #10. His solo story came the following year in Vampire Tales #8. Since then, he has grown in popularity, appearing in several standalone comics, cartoons, and even live-action movies, as played by Wesley Snipes. Marvel is currently in production of a new live-action, which sees Mahershala Ali play the Daywalker.

More About The Character (via Marvel)

There are many men and women in the world who hunt vampires, but few strike as much fear into bloodsucking hearts as they do stakes. Blade is more than just a slayer of the undead, but a boogeyman’s boogeyman, the thing that makes ghouls and monsters lose sleep.

Born from a mother ravaged by vampirism and gifted super human abilities by a bite from Morbius, the Living Vampire, Blade is the Daywalker—a skilled martial artist who possesses most vampire strengths and none of their weaknesses. His life is the tireless pursuit of eradicating the world of the beasts who seek to destroy innocent life.

Blade has no release date, and will release for PC, and exclusively on Xbox for consoles.

Update: More info from the official press release:

Arkane Lyon has just begun development on the game which will feature an original story with the studio’s signature immersive gameplay and world-class narrative.

“As a kid of mixed origins, I felt a special connection to Blade – a hero with a dual heritage himself,” said Dinga Bakaba, Game Director, Arkane Lyon. “The opportunity to put our spin on this character is a dream of mine and a challenge that our team embraces with a passion. We couldn’t be happier to put players in Blade’s boots, as he becomes the champion of my hometown of Paris, one stake at a time.”

Marvel’s Blade game will take players to a quarantined section of Paris in the middle of a supernatural emergency. Vampires have emerged, terrorizing the city of lights and forcing Parisians to shelter inside their homes at night to wait for sunrise.

“From his trench coat to his iconic sunglasses, Blade is a slick, stylish, and driven character,” said Sebastien Mitton, Co-Creative and Art Director, Arkane Lyon. “This project is the perfect opportunity to push Arkane’s art style into an even more modern and bold territory. The essence of our work lives at the junction of impactful ideas and innovative know-how.”

Once we know more about it, we’ll let our readers know.
