The Witcher 3 Update 4.040.200 Released on August 25 Just After Remastered Edition Announcement
Earlier today, CD Projekt RED surprised everyone by announcing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered upgrade, which is free for all base game owners.
While the upgrade won’t be available until September 29, the studio did roll out The Witcher 3 update 4.040.200 today.
This title update is available on both consoles and PC, but only for the current-gen versions (PS5, Xbox Series X|S). We checked the PS4 version, and it seems it hasn’t gotten the patch, and we doubt it ever will. Much like Cyberpunk 2077, support for the last-gen versions has ended.
The Witcher 3 Update on August 25 Brings the Two Expansions for Free
Both console and PC gamers should see that their version of The Witcher 3 is now updated to the Complete Edition, which means base game owners will now be able to play the Blood and Wine, Heart of Stone expansions for free. This is something CD Projekt RED announced on stage at Gamescom Opening Night Live, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise.
While this update might not house the Remastered Edition’s new features, it does give players hours upon hours of content to play with. Both Blood and Wine, Heart of Stone are amazing expansions that are just packed with content and should provide for hours of playtime.
